Full Stack Engineer (Android & Backend) - Subscriptions & Payments

We are looking for experienced Full Stack Engineers with Android and backend expertise in Go or Java to work on large-scale systems.

The role will be part of the Subscriptions and Payments engineering team and will contribute to building and enhancing Fire TV In-App Purchase (IAP) capabilities, subscription journeys, payment integrations, and entitlement workflows.

You will work across Android/Fire TV applications and backend services, building highly scalable and reliable systems capable of supporting millions of users and significant traffic spikes during major live events.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Android / Fire TV applications and supporting backend services.
• Build Android features using Kotlin/Java with a focus on performance, reliability, and user experience.
• Develop scalable backend services using Go or Java.
• Build and integrate APIs supporting subscriptions, payments, and entitlement workflows.
• Implement Fire TV In-App Purchase (IAP) flows including purchases, renewals, cancellations, and entitlement synchronization.
• Integrate applications with app-store APIs, payment platforms, and internal backend services.
• Build resilient workflows capable of handling failures, retries, and transaction reconciliation.
• Design systems to support high concurrency and large traffic spikes, particularly during live sports and major content releases.
• Optimize application startup, API latency, network usage, and overall performance.
• Work on authentication, device management, and user-session flows where required.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and observability across mobile/TV and backend systems.
• Write maintainable, well-tested production code.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design reviews.
• Collaborate with Android, backend, platform, payments, and product teams to deliver features end-to-end.

Requirements

• Strong Android development experience using Kotlin and/or Java.
• Good understanding of Android application architecture, lifecycle, and performance optimization.
• Experience developing applications for Android TV or Fire TV is highly desirable.
• Strong backend development experience using Go or Java.
• Experience with Spring Boot for Java backend development or common Go web/service frameworks.
• Strong experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Good understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Experience with NoSQL databases is desirable.
• Experience with caching technologies such as Redis.
• Exposure to Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming technologies.
• Understanding of asynchronous processing, concurrency, and distributed transactions.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong debugging and production troubleshooting skills.

Experience

• 4-7 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on Android development experience.
• Hands-on experience with backend development using Go or Java.
• Ability to independently own and deliver features across application and backend layers.
• Experience working on scalable production applications.
