Senior Manager – Product Engineering

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Senior Manager – Product Engineering with 11–20 years of experience to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, high-performance product engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and SQL, combined with proven experience in engineering leadership, architecture, team management, and stakeholder collaboration.

The role involves leading multiple engineering initiatives, driving technical strategy, mentoring engineering teams, and ensuring the delivery of reliable, scalable, and maintainable applications. Candidates with exposure to Supply Chain Management, Order Management, and Order Processing will have an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage product engineering teams responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying enterprise-grade applications.
• Define and execute engineering strategies aligned with product and business objectives.
• Architect and develop scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot.
• Drive the design and development of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed applications.
• Review technical designs, code, architecture decisions, and engineering practices to ensure high standards of quality and scalability.
• Work extensively with SQL and relational databases, including query optimization, data modeling, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Business, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Own end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives, including planning, execution, release, and post-production support.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks and establish appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Establish engineering best practices around coding standards, architecture, testing, security, performance, and deployment.
• Mentor and develop engineering managers, tech leads, and senior engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Drive Agile development practices, sprint planning, estimation, prioritization, and timely delivery of product features.
• Monitor application performance, reliability, scalability, and operational health.
• Partner with senior leadership to define technology roadmaps and evaluate new technologies and engineering approaches.

Must-Have Skills

• 11–20 years of experience in software/product engineering, with significant experience in engineering leadership roles.
• Strong expertise in Java and object-oriented programming.
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot and development of enterprise-scale backend applications.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, data modeling, query optimization, and database performance.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring large or cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and business leadership.
• Experience managing multiple projects and engineering priorities in a fast-paced product environment.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience working with Supply Chain Management platforms or enterprise supply chain applications.
• Knowledge of Order Management Systems (OMS) and order lifecycle processes.
• Understanding of Order Processing, fulfillment workflows, inventory integration, and related business processes.
• Exposure to e-commerce, retail, logistics, manufacturing, or other transaction-intensive domains.
• Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, or DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture, messaging systems, and distributed transaction processing.

Education

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
