What You'll Own
Architect and scale the core platform engines powering user onboarding, identity management, and granular privacy controls.
Build end-to-end web applications and resilient APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, and React to deliver intuitive user interfaces and robust backend logic.
Work across relational databases and varied data stores, writing complex SQL and designing scalable data models for mission-critical workflows.
Package applications with Docker and deploy microservices to Kubernetes via Helm, utilizing managed AWS infrastructure (S3, API Gateway, SQS).
Solve complex challenges around authentication, authorization, and data security to keep our public safety platform performant and secure.
What This Role Is Not
This isn't a front-end-only position. You will own the entire vertical stack—from crafting React user interfaces to designing database schemas and deploying backend microservices.
This is not a siloed maintenance role. You will build core platform features from scratch, solve complex identity and privacy architecture problems, and directly shape product growth.
This isn't a static engineering environment. You will work in a fast-paced setting where you take ambiguous problems, map out a plan of attack, and ship code that directly impacts public safety outcomes.
What You Bring
Strong experience building modern web applications and APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, and modern frontend frameworks (React preferred).
Solid database foundation with hands-on experience querying and structuring data across relational data stores using SQL.
Practical experience containerizing applications with Docker and deploying via Helm to Kubernetes environments.
Familiarity with core cloud services, including AWS S3, API Gateway, and SQS messaging queues.
A proactive approach to technical challenges, a commitment to code quality, and a drive to grow alongside a scaling organization.
The Problem
Every day, thousands of first responders rely on Flock's user-facing platform to investigate and solve crime. As our user base grows, building the foundational infrastructure that powers customer onboarding, identity management, and ironclad privacy controls becomes a critical scaling challenge. We need a full-stack engineer to design and defend the software engines that form these vital customer touchpoints. You will architect intuitive web applications, high-performance APIs, and secure backend services that ensure a seamless, reliable experience for every user on the front lines.

Flock Safety
View Company ProfileFlock Safety is a comprehensive public safety operating system and security hardware network designed to eliminate crime and build safer communities. The company is most widely recognized for its proprietary Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras, which capture actionable vehicle data—such as license plates, vehicle make, type, color, and unique identifying features (like roof racks or bumper stickers). Under the hood, Flock Safety combines solar-powered, infrastructure-free hardware with an advanced, cloud-based machine learning platform. This software instantly cross-references captured vehicle data against state and national crime databases (like the FBI's NCIC), sending real-time alerts to local law enforcement when a stolen or wanted vehicle enters a monitored area. Their primary target audience spans a wide spectrum, including thousands of local police departments, Homeowners Associations (HOAs), property managers, school districts, and commercial businesses. What sets Flock Safety apart in the physical security space is its ethical, privacy-first approach to surveillance—data is strictly encrypted, automatically deleted after 30 days by default, does not use facial recognition, and is expressly not sold to third parties, striking a unique balance between proactive crime prevention and community privacy.
