Soda's mission is to monitor the world's decisions. We're building the first Data & AI performance monitoring platform that spans data collection to automated decision-making. Soda helps customers find, understand, and fix data quality issues by combining automated post-production monitoring with pre-production pipeline data testing.

Soda was founded in 2019 by Maarten (employee #5 at Collibra) and Tom (creator of multiple open-source projects generating hundreds of millions in value). We commercialize through Soda Cloud and are well-funded, with investors like Point 9 Capital, Hummingbird, Singular, and Eurazeo.

The Role

You'll join the Finance team that covers Soda Data NV (Belgium), Soda Data Inc. (US), and NannyML NV, the Belgian company we acquired in 2025. The work is real from week one: invoice processing, month-end reporting, payroll data preparation, expense management, and intercompany recharges across three entities, two currencies, and three accounting systems.

The second half of the job is making that work disappear. Finance at Soda builds agentically: Claude and other AI tools are part of the daily workflow, not an experiment on the side. You'll learn a process, run it until you know it cold, and then automate it. Sometimes that means an AI agent on GitHub, sometimes a well-designed formula—you pick the right tool and defend the choice. Accuracy is the bar for both: in finance, 99% right is wrong, so every automation ships with the checks and reconciliations that prove its output.

What You'll Do

  • Run core finance processes: invoice processing, month-end reporting, payroll data preparation, expense management, and intercompany recharges. Learn them, run them, own them.
  • Automate them: with Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub, and the Soda MCP, or with smart spreadsheet design when that is the better tool.
  • Build in the checks: reconciliations and controls in everything you automate, so the output is verified before anyone else has to look at it.
  • Document as you go: process documentation that a colleague and an AI agent can both follow.
  • Support the wider Finance team: reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc projects across our Belgian and US entities.

Requirements

• A finance background: studying towards or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.

• Proof that you build: you've used AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) and/or built automations, scripts, or advanced spreadsheet solutions, and you can show us one and explain how you checked its output.

• Accuracy as a habit: you're the person who notices the 780 that should have been 800, and you don't sign off on numbers you haven't verified.

• Independent with new tools: you can pick up GitHub, MCP-based integrations, and finance systems without a course.

• Proactive: you spot the manual work and come with a plan for it. You'd rather build the workflow than do the task fifteen more times.

• Fluent English, written and spoken.

• European business hours: fully remote from any compatible time zone, or hybrid if you're near Amsterdam.

Good to Have

• Experience with accounting software (e.g., Exact Online, QuickBooks) or ERP systems.

• Exposure to Python, SQL, or API-based automation.

• Prior startup or fast-paced work experience.

Benefits

What We Offer

• €1,250 - €1,750 per month (pro rata of €2,500 - €3,500 for 40H), depending on experience.

• A clear path to a permanent role if you perform: 3-month contractor engagement first, extended as it works.

• Fully remote and flexible working, or hybrid if you're near Amsterdam.

• All the tokens you need, across all frontier models.

• Real ownership, real impact, no micromanagement. This is not a coffee-and-observe internship—you operate as part of the Finance team.

• Start: As soon as possible, aiming for the beginning of October 2026.

Our Values

We value freedom with responsibility, transparency, and a growth mindset. We avoid politics, have no tolerance for dishonesty, and value open and direct communication without judgment. We proactively bring up and address potential issues before they become critical, and we overcommunicate frequently. Working at Soda, you will have full autonomy to make impactful product and roadmap decisions.

❤️ Why you will love to join Soda

• You own processes, not tickets: what you automate is yours to design, and behind it is a list of things nobody here has built yet.

• Be part of a transformation: data quality is having its moment, and we're at the front of it.

• Ownership from day one: if you see a bottleneck, you remove it.

• International culture: colleagues in 12+ countries.

• Work on your own terms: fully remote, flexible hours.

😡 What you might not love

• Rapidly changing priorities: our roadmap can pivot quickly. It's a fast-paced environment with a LOT of work to be done.

• Flexibility required: you will have to learn new things all the time.

Soda (operating at soda.io) is an AI-native, fully automated data quality platform engineered for modern data-driven organizations. Founded by an undisclosed team and headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, Soda revolutionizes data reliability by eliminating manual checks and guesswork. Unlike traditional data quality tools that require extensive setup or rely on fragmented solutions, Soda streamlines the entire workflow—from detection to resolution—with AI embedded specifically for data quality. Under the hood, it leverages a lightweight, open-source core engine (Soda Core) to define data contracts in YAML, enabling automated validation of schema, completeness, and freshness at both table and record levels. This empowers data engineers and analysts to identify issues like missing values or stale data in seconds, ensuring trustworthy insights for decision-making. The platform’s integration with major cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake) further accelerates adoption, allowing teams to validate data quality where and when it matters most. While funding details remain undisclosed, Soda’s focus on operational efficiency positions it as a critical tool for enterprises prioritizing data integrity in an era of AI-driven workflows.
