The Problem

Our product ecosystem is expanding as we launch new hardware and software tools across communities. This growth creates a critical need for seamless operational rollouts, field testing, and process development so early-stage products transition smoothly from R&D to full field deployment. You will bridge the gap between product development and field execution, testing emerging hardware in the field and turning developmental pilot workflows into repeatable, scalable operational processes.

What You'll Own

  • Lead operational readiness and field testing for emerging R&D products, with an 80% current operational focus on drones and robotics platforms.
  • Execute hands-on installations and pilot testing directly in the field, identifying operational friction points to refine product design and installation workflows.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Hardware Operations to build deployment playbooks, field documentation, and internal training materials.
  • Develop, validate, and standardize field processes during early pilot phases before handing off mature deployment workflows to downstream field operation teams.
  • Track deployment metrics, field performance issues, and hardware bugs to drive continuous improvements back into R&D product engineering.

What This Role is Not

  • This isn't a licensed drone pilot role, your primary focus is building and testing deployment frameworks for hardware rollouts rather than operating flight missions.
  • This isn't a desk-bound project manager position, you'll travel up to 75% (typically Monday through Thursday) to execute hands-on field installations and pilot testing.
  • This isn't a post-launch customer support function, your focus is proactively establishing deployment infrastructure for new R&D rollouts rather than resolving ongoing support tickets.

What You Bring

  • Ability to travel up to 75% nationwide (4 to 5 days per week, typically Monday through Thursday) on short notice to support high-priority deployments.
  • Proven track record in field engineering, robotics, or technical product deployment within an R&D or hardware product environment.
  • Currently hold an FAA Part 107 commercial drone pilot certification or possess the ability to obtain it within the first 90 days.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform hands-on hardware fabrication, debugging, and installations in field settings.
  • Capability to work autonomously to solve ambiguous technical challenges and build operational processes where none previously existed.
  • Strong technical communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and present field findings clearly to internal stakeholders.

Flock Safety is a comprehensive public safety operating system and security hardware network designed to eliminate crime and build safer communities. The company is most widely recognized for its proprietary Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras, which capture actionable vehicle data—such as license plates, vehicle make, type, color, and unique identifying features (like roof racks or bumper stickers). Under the hood, Flock Safety combines solar-powered, infrastructure-free hardware with an advanced, cloud-based machine learning platform. This software instantly cross-references captured vehicle data against state and national crime databases (like the FBI's NCIC), sending real-time alerts to local law enforcement when a stolen or wanted vehicle enters a monitored area. Their primary target audience spans a wide spectrum, including thousands of local police departments, Homeowners Associations (HOAs), property managers, school districts, and commercial businesses. What sets Flock Safety apart in the physical security space is its ethical, privacy-first approach to surveillance—data is strictly encrypted, automatically deleted after 30 days by default, does not use facial recognition, and is expressly not sold to third parties, striking a unique balance between proactive crime prevention and community privacy.
