The opportunity

Spain has tens of thousands of clinics. Most of them run on friction: paper, spreadsheets, disconnected tools that doctors learn to work around rather than with. The ones that have moved to modern software describe it in similar terms: something to tolerate.

We're building something different. Clinic Cloud is Docplanner's practice management platform (PMS) for the Spanish market for clinics: a system covering appointments, patient history, billing, prescriptions, and the daily flow of a clinic. We're serving thousands of clinics and growing. Right now, we're in the middle of an exciting and challenging transformation of the product, even rebuilding from scratch core components. It's one of those career-defining moments where the team defines what the product should actually be, not what it ended up being over the years.

We're looking for the person who will lead Tech for Spain.

The role

Engineering Lead, Spain. You lead the Clinic Cloud Engineering team, partner closely with PMs and Country Manager and hold country-level ownership of what we ship. You report directly to the Global Engineering Director for PMSs. Your leadership shapes whether a clinic runs on time or breaks down at eleven in the morning.

This isn't a role where you manage tickets and clear blockers. You set the direction. You decide what quality looks like. You're the person who makes the team better, the product more reliable, and the market more confident that Docplanner delivers the best PMS in the country.

What we're looking for

  • You've led product-facing engineering teams before. You understand that software running in healthcare has consequences a support ticket can't capture: a broken flow during appointments isn't a UX issue, it's a doctor who can't see their next patient.
  • Your strong technical foundations allow you to own architecture and quality calls, and you're grounded enough to make them pragmatically. You build teams that don't need you for every decision, because you've hired well, given context early, and created space for others to lead.
  • You hold the whole picture at once: the engineers who build it, the PMs who prioritize it, the commercial team who promises it, and the clinic that depends on it. You're comfortable with ambiguity and with iteratively getting to the best product.
  • You push to understand why before you discuss how. You don't confuse delivery speed with progress. You've been in market-facing engineering roles and you know that trust is built in months and lost in hours.

Why now

The core components are being rebuilt. The Spain organization is in transition. The team is solid. The product has real traction. The leadership is yours to define.

We've opened this role because we want to accelerate, not because something is broken. The foundations are there. The market is real. And if you've ever wanted to lead a country-level product area with real autonomy, real accountability, and a team that's ready for the next chapter, this is it.

Requirements

  • 5+ years leading product engineering teams with direct people management: hiring, performance, growth.
  • Led a team through real product transformation, not just maintenance cycles.
  • Experience shipping in an environment where uptime and data integrity have real consequences.
  • Technical background to own architecture and quality calls; grounded enough to make them pragmatically.
  • Comfortable holding a strategic conversation with the business and a technical one with your engineers on the same day.
  • Spanish market experience or working in Spanish is a strong plus.
  • Exposure to healthcare, clinic workflows, or regulated data environments is a plus.
  • Fluent English and Spanish languages.
