About vivenu: Welcome to vivenu (vivenu.com), the global leader in event ticketing tech and one of the world’s fastest-growing live entertainment tech firms. We are transforming event ticketing for global leaders like the Grammys, the Golden Globes, Stanford University, and the Hockenheimring—turning what was once a simple transaction into a strategic business advantage. Backed by over $65 million in VC funding, our platform empowers event organizers to own their brand experience, unlock deep data insights, and seamlessly integrate ticketing into their digital infrastructure. With more than 10 million end users, usage quadrupling annually, and our infrastructure handling over 1 billion requests per month, vivenu equips engineering leaders with an uncompromised development landscape to model financial ledger systems and distribute transaction infrastructure asynchronously.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical, connection-obsessed, and systems-minded Engineering Lead - Payments to spearhead, expand, and scale our high-concurrency payment engine under a permanent, full-time fully remote engagement framework based anywhere in Germany. Operating as the technical authority for our core transaction domain, you will step up to claim true individual operational and architectural accountability over backend APIs, financial money flows, and high-volume checkout experiences that integrate with more than 15 global payment providers. Shifting completely away from plain website layout adjustments, basic script writing, or slow manual data logging loops, you will run an active distributed transaction, secure payment gateway, and high-throughput microservices laboratory—partnering face-to-face with senior product managers, core software development pods, corporate finance teams, and global security groups. This position requires an engineering veteran with 10+ years of craft depth who architects fault-tolerant checkout fabrics fluidly natively using Backend patterns, evaluates transactional consistency boundaries cleanly across fragmented third-party data layers, and drives infrastructure scale strategies confidently to support multi-million concurrent user checkouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Leadership: Define, maintain, and execute the core technical roadmap for our high-throughput backend APIs, microservices, and global checkout experiences natively utilizing Backend best practices.
- Strategic Money Flow Execution: Maintain a deeply product-oriented lens across transaction lifecycles, navigating incomplete parameters to build highly resilient financial architectures prepared for massive scale.
- Hands-on Core Development: Remain deeply involved in technical implementation and code contribution, specifically driving the development of our proprietary managed payments and billing engines using Go and TypeScript.
- Team Mentorship and Engineering Standards: Manage, mentor, and inspire a distributed team of senior software engineers, conducting objective code reviews and performance alignments to raise the bar for engineering excellence.
- Gateway Integration Governance: Oversee, secure, and refactor integrations with market-leading third-party payment gateways and aggregators including Stripe, Adyen, and Braintree.
- Cross-Functional Communication Bridge: Function as the definitive translator between engineering execution and business requirements, aligning with product, customer support, and financial stakeholders to debug complex checkout anomalies.
- Compliance and Security Auditing: Ensure unwavering adherence to localized and international data security protocols, financial regulations, and audit trail specifications across all transactional data components.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of total professional software engineering history, containing at least 3 years explicitly spent operating in a Team Lead, Engineering Manager, or technical leadership capacity.
- Mandatory hands-on domain expertise building, scaling, and maintaining complex payment infrastructures, e-commerce checkouts, subscription mechanisms, or dense billing architectures.
- Strong, fundamental backend development depth and API design principles, with the proven capacity to adapt quickly to a stack anchored by Go and TypeScript.
- Solid architectural comprehension managing distributed components including relational or non-relational databases (SQL/NoSQL), high-throughput message queues, caching systems, and cloud-native fabrics (AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes) natively using Backend methodologies.
- A proactive, ownership-driven leadership style with outstanding social and communication capability inside highly matrixed corporate client networks.
- Location Context: Position features 100% remote parameters open exclusively to qualified technical leaders located permanently within Germany.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Applied experience implementing complex subscription billing platforms and handling advanced financial ledger systems.
- Prior engineering exposure handling global multi-currency settlements or localized European payment schemas.
- Involvement navigating high-growth scale-up challenges, especially handling multi-billion request volumes.
What We Offer
- Vetted, Top-Tier European Tech Scale-up Blueprint: A highly competitive executive-tier baseline salary matched with remote infrastructure equipment and performance-linked benchmarks.
- The spectacular professional canvas to own and revolutionize financial systems relied upon by global entertainment icons and sports franchises.
- Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering an autonomous virtual space across Germany, flexible working hour tracks, and zero commuting friction.
- An elite, merit-driven corporate culture comprising over 160 professionals with pedigree backgrounds from tech leaders like Google, Slack, and Salesforce.
- Continuous technical growth tracks driven by daily collective wins, Forbes 30 Under 30 founder perspectives, and rapid scale-up expansion velocity.
