About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Field Engineer to act as the primary technical bridge between design teams and on-site construction partners. This role focuses on the construction phase of Crusoe’s data center campus projects until operational handover. You will ensure that large-scale power distribution systems are installed safely, accurately, and efficiently to meet the demands of AI workloads.
The role is remote by design, with a minimum travel expectation of 50%—there may come times when this expectation is exceeded during critical construction phases. Most travel will be to the construction site assigned to support. Additionally, the role will require 24/7 on-call support for emergencies at the assigned campus. Preferred remote locations include TX, AZ, CO, LA, MO, UT, NV for travel ease to job sites.
The position requires an electrical professional with a strong mix of electrical construction and design methodologies, power distribution equipment installation and commissioning, and a strong background in construction and/or operational environments and expectations.
What You'll Be Working On:
Support the on-site installation, quality assurance, functional checkout, testing, and commissioning of critical electrical infrastructure—including medium/low voltage switchgear, power transformers, switchboards, protection and control, UPS systems, and electrical equipment internal to the data center.
Monitor the deployment of advanced power backup and conditioning systems, including medium voltage UPS, backup generators, and BESS.
Support and direct involvement in substation protection system management.
Technical support for RFI (Requests for Information) process.
Technical support for temporary power and electrical switching.
Track construction progress against project milestones and ensure adherence to Basis of Design and engineering specifications—without compromising speed.
Support rapid resolution of RFIs and Field Engineering Directives (FEDs) between contractors and the internal design team.
Own critical lessons learned and field service bulletins that have design ramifications, ensuring they are carried back into specs and templating.
Support all levels 1-5 of commissioning activities in partnership with Crusoe’s Cx team, reviewing commissioning documents for technical accuracy and assurance of design intent.
Be an electrical safety champion in partnership with Crusoe’s construction partners.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in mission-critical environments supporting construction and/or operations.
• Deep practical understanding of electrical power distribution equipment assembly and installation.
• Hands-on experience with on-site construction and partnering with third-party general contractors and electrical subcontractors.
• Strong project management skills to assist in monitoring schedules, spotting bottlenecks, and driving on-time completion in a technical position.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex field installation issues and implement practical, code-compliant solutions on the fly.
• Flexibility to travel frequently or reside near the assigned project site—minimum of 50% of time on site.
Bonus Points:
Professional Engineer (PE) License or EIT certification.
Direct experience overseeing the installation of high-density racks and their accompanying electrical infrastructure.
Mega Project construction experience in mission-critical or heavy industry.
Certifications such as PMP, OSHA 30, or equivalent safety credentials.
