This role is part of our Global unit, serving Canada and Australia, with this specific position supporting our Canadian team.
What Is a Foolish Editor?
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented editor who excels at grammar, writing style, and financial fact-checking. You’ll ensure our content on Canadian investing and retirement planning is polished, engaging, and factually accurate.
But What Would You Specifically Do in This Role?
- Support our free website, fool.ca
- Edit articles on investing and retirement planning to ensure clarity, flow, and logical soundness
- Perform copy editing for grammatical and spelling accuracy
- Publish articles on WordPress, including metadata (images, stock tickers, disclosures)
- Collaborate with the managing editor to refine investing concepts and identify factual or compliance errors
- Provide feedback to writers and the managing editor on content quality
Required Experience and Skills:
- Prior experience as an editor, ideally in online editorial-style content
- Expertise in grammar, writing style, and financial fact-checking
- High organizational skills
- Ability to self-motivate and meet daily deadlines
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Curiosity, flexibility, and a good sense of humor
Ideal Additional Experience and Skills:
- Some prior knowledge of investing
- Familiarity with WordPress
- Knowledge of SEO best practices
- Experience with large-language model AI tools
- Experience with collaboration tools like Slack and Google apps
