What you’ll do (Role Expectations)

We are looking for a Director, Threat Research Engagement to join our team. This is a Remote role, reporting to the VP, Solutions Marketing in the Marketing department. As the strategic voice for ThreatLabz — Zscaler's world-class threat intelligence research team — you will lead a hybrid team of technically minded creatives to set a new standard for how threat research is shared in the industry. You will translate complex threat research, telemetry insights, and security findings into compelling narratives that resonate with security leaders (CISOs), technical practitioners, information sharing organizations, and tier 1 media properties, driving global authority and market leadership.

  • Strategic Messaging: Develop positioning and messaging that establishes ThreatLabz as the definitive source of threat intelligence — clearly differentiating Zscaler's research capabilities and telemetry scale in a highly competitive market
  • Launch Orchestration: Collaborate cross-functionally with the ThreatLabz research team, Product Management, Sales, Enablement, and Demand Gen to lead high-impact report launches, research releases, and threat intelligence programs
  • Content for Every Surface: Create and commission impactful content engineered for human readers, machine ingestion, and AI-driven discovery — ensuring ThreatLabz research reaches every audience, in every format, through every channel that matters
  • Community and Information Sharing: Build and deepen relationships with ISACs, the Cyber Threat Alliance, and other information sharing organizations to extend the reach and authority of ThreatLabz research where the security community gathers and trusts
  • Sales Empowerment: Communicate the core value of ThreatLabz intelligence to the sales organization and develop tools that connect threat research to customer conversations, accelerating the end-to-end selling process

Who You Are (Success Profile)

  • You are a relentless problem-solver who runs toward challenges with a laser focus on finding solutions that deliver the highest impact.
  • You are a high-trust collaborator who is ambitious for the team’s collective success, embracing candid feedback delivered with clarity and respect.
  • You are an active learner with a true growth mindset, constantly seeking feedback to develop yourself and support your team with purpose.
  • You are deeply customer-obsessed, building strong empathy for both internal and external stakeholders to anchor all decisions in solving real-world challenges.
  • You operate with urgency and a bias for action, demonstrating a relentless focus on execution where speed and quality work hand-in-hand.

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Demonstrated curiosity and active exploration of AI tools, with a proven history of integrating new technologies to enhance daily workflows and augment problem-solving
  • 10–12 years of experience in product marketing, threat intelligence, cybersecurity research, or a related field, with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Marketing, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Journalism, or related)
  • Proficient in go-to-market strategy, product messaging, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Deep understanding of the threat intelligence landscape, information sharing ecosystems (ISACs, CTA), and how security practitioners consume and act on research
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling content programs or research engagement initiatives for security or SaaS audiences
  • Experience leading or building hybrid, cross-disciplinary teams

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master's degree or MBA, or certifications in cybersecurity, AI, or cloud technologies
  • Direct experience working with threat intelligence, security research, or incident response teams
  • Proven ability to craft messaging for both technical and executive-level audiences, with a background in media relations, analyst relations, or thought leadership strategy tied to security research
