Key Responsibilities
We're seeking an experienced Database Engineer to design, build, and scale enterprise data infrastructure across Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB ecosystems. In this role, you'll architect robust solutions, optimize complex database environments, and ensure high-performance, reliable data management across cloud and on-premises platforms.
- Design, deploy, and optimize different database technology types in our multi-cloud and on-premises environments
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views
- Create, modify, and remove indices to improve query performance and eliminate redundant overhead across multiple database platforms
- Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for cloud and on-premises environments
- Conduct and document disaster recovery drills and failover testing to validate recovery procedures, RTO/RPO compliance, and team readiness
- Monitor database performance, analyze metrics, and implement tuning strategies
- Collaborate with developers and architects to design efficient data models and schemas
- Implement security best practices, access controls, and encryption standards across all database platforms
- Manage database migrations, upgrades, and version control
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including replication, clustering, and connectivity problems
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of professional database engineering experience
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later), including deep knowledge of:
- T-SQL development (complex queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers)
- Index strategies and execution plan optimization
- MSSQL Always-On Availability Groups configuration, management, and failover procedures
- MSSQL mirroring and log shipping for disaster recovery scenarios
- Backup and restore strategies, including recovery models (Simple, Bulk-Logged, Full) and point-in-time recovery
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
- Strong experience managing databases on AWS RDS and Aurora
- Proficiency in backup/restore, recovery models, and disaster recovery planning
- Knowledge of database security, encryption, authentication, and compliance standards
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Microsoft Azure certifications (Azure Solutions Architect or Azure Data Engineer)
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager)
- Familiarity with ETL tools and data pipelines
- Experience with database monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Redgate, Solarwinds)
- Knowledge of high-availability architecture and replication
- Familiarity of CI/CD, version control, and automated testing
- Experience in an Agile/DevOps environment
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- AWS or Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus
