Who We Are:
At Hunt St, we help Australian companies directly hire top 5% remote talent in the Philippines. You will be hired directly by the client, typically as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All roles are 100% remote, allowing you to work from home.
Who The Client Is:
The client is a financial institution in Brisbane, Australia, passionate about using data and analytics to help millions of people across Australia, New Zealand, and Canada improve their lives through financial data. They are seeking a Data Operations Analyst to monitor and manage the health and accuracy of their proprietary bank data extraction platform.
Why Join Us:
- Make a Difference: Help build a solution used by millions of people.
- Collaborate and Innovate: Join a team doing groundbreaking work with data in the Fintech industry.
- Grow Your Career: Work with supportive and motivated teammates in a flexible, remote environment.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Data Operations Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will monitor the health and accuracy of our proprietary bank data extraction platform, diagnose and resolve issues when scrapers break or drift, and ensure the quality and completeness of the financial data delivered to clients.
This is a hands-on technical operations role. You will work daily with our GUI-based scraper configuration tool and become an expert in navigating banking website structures to keep data pipelines running smoothly. No coding is required, but a sharp eye for detail, comfort with web technologies, and a systematic approach to problem-solving are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Scraper Monitoring & Issue Resolution
- Monitor scraper health dashboards daily to identify failed, stalled, or degraded data extractions.
- Diagnose root causes of scraper failures, including banking website layout changes, authentication changes, or element restructuring.
- Use the GUI-based scraper configuration tool to re-target HTML elements and restore broken scrapers to full operation.
- Maintain a log of recurring issues, failure patterns, and resolution steps to support continuous improvement.
- Escalate complex or systemic issues to the engineering team with clear, documented reproduction steps.
Data Quality & Validation
- Review extracted data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency against expected values.
- Investigate and resolve data anomalies, missing fields, duplicated records, and formatting inconsistencies.
- Apply defined data quality rules and flag exceptions for review.
- Perform periodic spot-checks and reconciliations to verify data integrity across sources.
- Document data quality findings and maintain quality metrics over time.
Process & Documentation
- Maintain up-to-date runbooks and SOPs for common scraper issues and data validation procedures.
- Contribute to the improvement of monitoring alerts and quality check frameworks.
- Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders about outages, delays, or data quality concerns.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in a technical operations, data operations, QA, or similar analyst role.
- Solid understanding of how websites work, including HTML structure, DOM elements, and how browsers render web pages.
- Comfortable using browser developer tools (e.g., Chrome DevTools) to inspect page elements and identify CSS selectors or XPaths.
- Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail—able to spot data anomalies and inconsistencies quickly.
- Experience working with structured data (tables, CSVs, or similar) and validating data against expected formats or rules.
- Ability to follow and contribute to documented processes and standard operating procedures.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document issues and escalate effectively.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with financial data, banking systems, or fintech environments.
- Familiarity with SQL, Regex, or basic data querying for validation and investigation purposes.
- Exposure to web scraping tools, RPA platforms, or automation workflows.
- Experience using ticketing or task management systems (e.g., Jira, Linear, Notion).
- Understanding of basic data pipeline concepts—ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
What Success Looks Like:
In your first 90 days, you will have learned our scraper platform end-to-end, resolved your first independent scraper outages, and established a consistent rhythm of daily monitoring and data quality checks. Within 6 months, you will be the go-to person for operational health across our data extraction pipeline, proactively identifying fragile scrapers before they break and driving measurable improvements in our data completeness and accuracy rates.
Who You Are:
- You are naturally curious about how things work under the hood—especially websites and data systems.
- You are methodical and thorough; you don’t just fix the symptom, you understand the cause.
- You take ownership: if a scraper is broken and data isn’t flowing, it bothers you until it’s resolved.
- You communicate proactively—you keep stakeholders informed without being asked.
- You thrive in a structured environment but can adapt when things change unexpectedly.
Work Arrangement & Expectations:
This is a remote role set up as an independent contractor engagement. Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work.
- Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”).
