Data Engineer / Connector & Parser Specialist
Job Description
Key Skills Required
Master these to land this role
Want to know if you're a match for this job?
Our product helps regulated enterprises understand what will break before they migrate from legacy data platforms. Our software reads ETL tools, databases, and proprietary formats, then turns that information into trusted lineage and dependency maps.
We are early-stage, funded, and building a small product team. You will own the connectors and parsers that make the product work. We operate AI-first. You are expected to actively use AI throughout the development process to move faster, improve quality, and solve unfamiliar technical problems. Engineers still own every technical decision and the final correctness of the output.
What you'll do
- Build connectors for legacy ETL platforms, databases, and modern cloud data systems.
- Parse XML, SQL, repository exports, scripts, and vendor-specific formats.
- Turn extracted metadata into accurate lineage and dependency models.
- Create automated tests and known-good datasets to verify connector accuracy.
- Improve the connector framework with our Principal Architect and document reusable patterns.
- Integrate AI into your daily development workflow to accelerate reverse engineering, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
What we're looking for
- Strong data engineering, metadata, or systems integration experience.
- Hands-on work with ETL platforms, SQL parsing, data lineage, or transformation logic.
- Experience reverse engineering unfamiliar or poorly documented systems.
- Comfort working in TypeScript and building automated tests.
- Well-versed in AI-assisted software development, with demonstrated experience embedding AI tools into the development process rather than using them occasionally.
- A bias for shipping quickly, testing thoroughly, and fixing errors rather than explaining them away.
Nice to have
- Experience with Informatica PowerCenter, DataStage, Talend, SSIS, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of graph models, OpenMetadata, OpenLineage, compilers, or parsers.
- Experience delivering software into regulated or security-reviewed environments.
