Position Overview
We are seeking a highly autonomous, code-fluent, and risk-oriented Data Analyst - Fraud to investigate threat vectors, map anomalous transactions, and deploy automated mitigation metrics under a permanent, full-time remote configuration open throughout Nigeria. Operating within our centralized Data Science & Analytics architecture, you will serve as the principal investigator tracking complex fraudulent attack vectors across massive financial matrices. Shifting completely away from routine non-regulated administrative data transcription loops, entry-level website styling adjustments, or general post-sales helpdesk response logging, you will operate an active database transaction query, behavior anomaly testing, and risk telemetry verification laboratory. Partnering directly beside fraud operations teams, data scientists, software engineers, and product managers within a flat hierarchy, you will translate abstract transactional indicators into high-impact programmatic rules. This position requires an analytics veteran with 4+ years of data tracking history who handles large datasets fluidly natively using Data Analyst, SQL, and Business Intelligence primitives, isolates vector patterns proactively, and optimizes threat defense configurations independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Fraud Attack Governance: Lead, orchestrate, and document end-to-end clinical investigations into complex financial fraud attacks, quantifying transactional impacts and delivering data findings to drive executive mitigation prioritization.
- High-Scale Database Querying: Write, profile, and scale complex relational extraction scripts natively utilizing SQL best practices to slice multi-million row transactional matrices across massive relational datasets.
- Rule-Based Risk Automation: Propose, refine, and deploy programmatic fraud rule-sets and thresholds, collaborating close-knit beside fraud operations and engineering cells to push them safely to production.
- BI Telemetry Instrumentation: Design, calibrate, and maintain interactive risk visualization dashboards natively leveraging Business Intelligence frameworks—such as PowerBI, Looker, Tableau, Superset, or Redash—to monitor real-time rule performance and key metrics.
- Emerging Pattern Discovery: Maintain a proactive, high-agency operational focus, hunting out unusual systemic trends and flagging transactional vulnerabilities before exploit vectors can escalate across the platform.
- Cross-Functional Strategic Synthesis: Act as a trusted link and strategic translator across technical data science, software development, and executive business groups to convert analytical discoveries into rapid commercial defense loops.
- Data Quality & Records Compliance: Partner beside internal data governance cells to preserve schema mapping structures, schema logs, and code parameters securely across version control systems.
- Spreadsheet Modeling Controls: Build and evaluate preliminary statistical graphs, margin balances, and validation checks natively leveraging advanced Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets methodologies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 4+ years of proven, successful professional experience operating as a dedicated Fraud Data Analyst, Risk Analytics Engineer, or matching tech-centric quantitative analytics capacity within financial services (exceptional accomplishments can compensate for direct history).
- Expert SQL and Analytics Command: Meticulous practical experience writing complex conditional queries, custom aggregations, and data joins natively using SQL (validated via a technical take-home test during the process).
- Production-grade operational literacy writing or refactoring basic statistical data manipulation or data automation scripts natively written in Python.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and textual presentation communication strengths in English, with an established background utilizing data to influence cross-functional product and engineering directors.
- Possess a formal Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a proximal highly quantitative scientific field.
- Location Context: Position operates under remote parameters open exclusively to qualified full-stack financial risk analytics authorities residing permanently within Nigeria.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior platform or consulting history building risk protection structures explicitly inside the FinTech, digital banking, global payment gateway processing, merchant acquiring, or consumer micro-credit sectors.
- Direct operational familiarity manipulating unified data governance rules, metadata catalogs, or continuous integration arrays natively using Git or proximal version control repositories.
- An adaptable, systems-oriented persona characterized by deep analytical curiosity, high grit, and a passion for thriving inside a high-velocity, low-bureaucracy startup network.
What We Offer
- Premium Nigeria FinTech Data Leadership Remuneration: An highly attractive annual target cash base salary package calibrated precisely to individual data engineering pedigree and closing velocity, supplemented by an annual corporate bonus.
- 100% remote workspace infrastructure autonomy anywhere within Nigeria, bypassing traditional office commute traffic blockages while delivering massive platform transformations.
- Macro Financial Security Influence: Elite professional growth checkpoints achieved by single-handedly blueprinting the rules, visualization models, and detection pipelines protecting billions of annual digital transaction values.
- Comprehensive physical health preservation choices, medical group insurance, and matching retirement pension structures aligned to top-tier technology guidelines.
- Access to a learning-focused global environment with a heavy emphasis on personal knowledge sharing, training allowances, regular internal technical talks, and an inclusive corporate culture where every voice carries weight.
