About This Role
NFF’s Consulting team works with nonprofit organizations, funders, coalitions, networks and other mission-driven partners to support capacity building and financial sustainability. The team partners with nonprofit leaders navigating growth, change, and systemic challenges by providing strategic advice, financial analysis, and capacity-building support. Through customized consulting engagements nationwide, NFF helps organizations strengthen their capacity, sustainability, and impact.
NFF seeks a Business Intelligence Manager, Consulting to help the Consulting Department use data to improve its performance, inform decision-making, and strengthen operations. The Manager will partner closely with Consulting leadership to strengthen data integrity, identify and analyze trends, and translate findings into actionable business insights. They will also lead the development of an integrated data infrastructure for Consulting that supports reporting, compliance, operational effectiveness, and strategic planning. Although this role is grounded in Consulting’s practice management and business needs, the Manager will work closely with related NFF departments including Operations and Learning & Impact to align data definitions, reporting practices, workflows, and systems across departments.
NFF has offices in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Oakland, and Los Angeles. This is a US-based remote role, with a strong preference for candidates within commutable distance to one of NFF’s offices. NFF has core business hours where we expect all staff to be available from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm local time, and occasional travel (20%) is required.
What You Will Do
Essential responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge, Learning & Impact (30%)
- Maintain and improve internal knowledge management resources, ensuring tools, templates, content, and other materials remain current and accessible to consulting staff
- Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reports that provide insights on impact, demand, compliance metrics, and operational performance
- Partner with Consulting colleagues to translate business needs into actionable reports, dashboards, and data tools
- Analyze client, project, sector, and portfolio data to identify trends, generate insights, and inform consulting engagements, practice learning, and business planning
- Manage client data, reports, files, to ensure data quality, consistency and ongoing knowledge capture.
- Support the administration, analysis, and reporting of client outcomes and demographic survey data
Data Integrity & Systems Management (30%)
- Partner with Consulting and cross-functional teams, including Operations, Learning & Impact, and Development, to strengthen ongoing data quality across Salesforce, Resource Hero, Power BI, and related systems
- Identify and resolve missing, inconsistent, or outdated data to support accurate reporting and project management
- Develop training resources and provide guidance on data entry standards, system usage, and the impact of data quality on strategy, compliance, and reporting
- Maintain data governance documentation, guidance, and templates to support consistent data practices across the Consulting team
- Monitor recurring data issues and help improve templates, workflows, and processes to reduce errors and improve data integrity
Practice & Capacity Management (25%)
- Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of systems, reports, dashboards, data practices, and internal tools that support business decision-making
- Analyze practice and capacity management data to identify trends, generate insights, and support decision-making and implementation efforts
- Monitor and report on capacity, staffing, scoped work, hours performed, and Consulting engagement and initiative to support planning and resource allocation
- Prepare practice management materials and oversee decision tracking, action items, and follow-up for Consulting meetings and internal projects
Project & Initiative Management (15%)
- Manage select Consulting projects and initiatives, coordinating with providers, clients, funders, and internal partners to understand business needs and oversee workplans, timelines, communications, deliverables, budgets, and closeout activities
- Develop and manage multiple project plans to ensure high-quality and timely completion of internal and external deliverables
- Support initiative setup and maintenance across Salesforce and related systems, ensuring data structures align reporting, compliance, and operational needs
- Manage tools and processes that support initiative monitoring, staffing discussions, after-action reviews, closeout activities, and related reporting requirements
- Help track initiative progress, including deliverables, staffing, budgets, hours, client demographic and outcomes data
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and policies, and recommend solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness
Meetings and Other Duties as Assigned
- Attend internal and external meetings as needed
- As work and community/client needs evolve assignments, projects, and job duties will be assigned
Who You Are and Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience
- Five (5) years of professional experience in business intelligence, data analysis, operations, project management, consulting operations, or a related field
- Experience developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, or data tools used to support business operations and decision-making
- Experience analyzing data, identifying trends, and translating findings into actionable insights
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using CRM, database or reporting systems
- Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to present information to diverse audiences

Benefits and Compensation
NFF offers a generous benefits package that currently includes up to twenty (20) paid holidays/business closure days, three (3) floating holidays, flexible time off, group medical insurance with a funded health reimbursement account, dental and vision plans, life insurance and disability plans, a retirement plan with both a non-elective employer contribution (4%) and additional match contribution (up to 2%), a “work from home” fund, and flexible spending accounts to cover health, dependent care, and commuter costs.
This is a full-time role with a compensation range of $99,500 - $110,600. A compensation offer is based on a candidate’s background and years of relevant experience, with consideration for internal equity. Because of our strong commitment to equity and growth, we do not negotiate compensation offers.
