Position Overview

We are seeking a highly sophisticated, systems-minded Customer Engineer to join our core global Go-To-Market division in a full-time capacity base-stationed in Mumbai, India. Operating as a pivotal technical driver of our regional business expansion strategy, the Customer Engineer acts as a trusted architectural advisor, carrying a variable commercial quota linked directly to new client acquisition, onboarding success, and long-term multi-product account expansion. Shifting entirely away from standard transactional sales handoffs, you will own the end-to-end technical customer relationship from initial discovery to renewal phases. This high-agency seat demands a tech-savvy pre-sales professional who commands deep web security logic, translates complex edge architectures into simple business cases for C-level executives, and aggressively utilizes AI-augmented workflows to eliminate administrative bottlenecks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-Cycle Technical Validation: Partner seamlessly with Account Executives to lead technical discoveries, building bespoke client enterprise architectures and deploying high-fidelity product demonstrations across Cloudflare’s portfolio.
  • Bespoke Sandbox and PoC Curation: Construct and verify robust Proof of Concepts (PoCs) mapping client requirements across web application security, secure edge routing, DNS infrastructure, and developer platforms.
  • Commercial Quota Account Management: Take ownership of a variable sales quota, monitoring usage metrics to drive deep platform adoption, minimize revenue churn, and proactively identify cross-sell and up-sell channels.
  • AI-Augmented Workflow Orchestration: Act as an "AI-First" sales systems engineer, utilizing autonomous prompt agents and low-code tooling to automate repetitive background tasks like RFP/Security Questionnaire compilation and basic sandbox data monitoring.
  • Executive Business Value Translation: Lead high-impact Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and present technical implementation plans, translating edge infrastructure capabilities directly into tangible financial ROI metrics for C-level boards.
  • Long-Term Strategic Alignment: Govern continuous technical alignment between your assigned book of enterprise accounts and internal Product Management groups, translating frontline market intelligence into actionable roadmap priorities.
  • Edge Coding and Interfacing: Write and test specialized custom integration scripts, data layer connectors, and edge computing triggers using **Python or JavaScript** to satisfy complex client infrastructure constraints.
  • Security and Compliance Controls: Audit and explain enterprise infrastructure perimeters against modern threats, addressing web firewall compliance rules, DDoS mitigation paths, and secure zero-trust network data flows.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven professional history running advanced Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, pre-sales technical consulting, Sales Engineering, or Forward Deployed system design.
  • Deep, authoritative technical command of core web networking and infrastructure components, including **DNS architectures, secure web routing protocols, WAF parameters, and DDoS mitigation paths**.
  • Demonstrated experience operating successfully within a revenue-aligned or quota-carrying commercial environment, indicating a clear mastery of SaaS business metrics and enterprise enterprise sales cycles.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation mechanics in fluent English, showcasing an absolute ability to articulate complex network telemetry clearly to technical architects and C-suite business executives.
  • Strong quantitative baseline capabilities to interpret account data logs, track usage metrics, and formulate transaction tables via analytic systems and Spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets).
  • Geographical Constraint: Absolute requirement to be base-stationed permanently within Mumbai, India, with full readiness to attend in-person video panels or sync sessions at Cloudflare offices when required.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Direct hands-on experience building, launching, or scaling applications natively utilizing Cloudflare’s specialized developer ecosystems, notably **Cloudflare Workers, Workers AI, or AI Gateway**.
  • Practical exposure to advanced machine learning engineering frameworks, encompassing prompt engineering loops, Large Language Model (LLM) orchestration pipelines, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) structures.
  • Hands-on script deployment capabilities writing clean edge routines natively inside Python or JavaScript.
  • Prior experience scaling pre-sales cycles or data infrastructure configurations for major global tech scale-ups or enterprise cloud software providers.
