About the Role: The Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) is seeking a Curriculum Development Intern to support the design and implementation of the Women for Wildlife (WfW) Community of Learning. This role focuses on empowering women and female leaders in conservation through gender-focused programs.
The Women for Wildlife (WfW) grants program aims to strengthen gender-focused programs in Africa, fostering women’s empowerment and conservation benefits. Successful grantees will join a 12-month Community of Learning with the following key activities:
- Encouraging and sharing innovative approaches to conservation and gender-related challenges
- Supporting and mentoring women and female leaders in the field, facilitating partnerships and capacity building
- Gathering data, knowledge, and lessons to inform future women-focused granting and grantee management
- Tracking and evaluating progress and impact of grantee activities related to women-focused programming
- Creating and implementing best practices for gender rights and equity in conservation and development
- Building capacity within partners for effective and ethical gender-related programming
Community of Learning activities include:
- Qualitative needs assessments for grantees to identify strengths, expertise, and growth areas in gender-focused programming
- Creation and maintenance of a digital platform (e.g., WhatsApp or Slack) for communication and knowledge-sharing
- Development of a remote curriculum and facilitated practical work to enhance organizations' capacity for gender empowerment
- Hosting of 8 virtual gatherings over the 12-month period
- Design and implementation of methods for impact evaluation of grantee projects and the network’s overall goals
- Design and implementation of self-assessment methods for gender equity and rights in grant-supported projects and grantee organizations
Nature and Scope of Work:
- Curriculum design, including background research and creation of learning materials and tools
- Documentation of emerging learning and development of new learning tools and products
- Design and maintenance of digital platforms for curriculum delivery and facilitation of communication and knowledge-sharing activities
- Design and coordination of virtual curriculum gatherings
Skills Needed:
- Curriculum design
- Evaluation of educational curricula
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Proficiency on digital platforms including WhatsApp, Slack, Zoom, and Google Docs
- Proficiency with software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication
