Our patients have often tried everything. Years of appointments, medications that did not work, conditions that slowly took over their lives. By the time they reach us, many have run out of road with conventional treatment. You could be the clinician that changes that. We are Montu UK, one of the UK's largest medical cannabis clinics, and we are looking for Consultant Neurologists to join our clinical team.

About the role

You will assess and manage patients exploring cannabis based medicines, making the clinical call on whether treatment is appropriate and managing their care from there. This is still a young field. The evidence base is growing, best practice is being written in real time, and you will have a genuine hand in shaping it.

You do not need experience with cannabis based medicines. You need sound clinical judgement, an open mind and an interest in doing things differently. We provide full specialist training, and our multidisciplinary model means you are never working in isolation. Nurses and pharmacists handle pre consultation and follow up tasks, so your time is spent where it matters: with patients.

What you will be doing:

  • Providing high quality care for patients seeking medical cannabis treatment
  • Conducting patient consultations, including assessment and ongoing management
  • Contributing to clinical outcome data collection to support evidence based practice
  • Supporting clinical governance and maintaining robust standards of patient care
  • Working closely within a multidisciplinary team of nurses and pharmacists
  • Taking part in ongoing training and development, including bespoke specialist training in cannabis based medicines (CBPMs)

What you need:

  • Full valid GMC Registration
  • Completion of Specialist Training (CCST/CCT) or equivalent certification
  • On the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology
  • A genuine interest in alternative therapies
  • Willingness to participate in data collection and reporting

Why join us?

  • Highly Competitive Compensation (rate reflects weekly commitment)
    • 8 hours per week (2 sessions): €110 – €120 per hour
    • 28 hours per week (7 sessions): €120 – €150 per hour
  • Flexible Working: Full time or part time options available
  • Indemnity coverage: Montu's insurance will cover you for prescribing medical cannabis
  • Cutting Edge Training: Access to CPD accredited medical cannabis education and specialist in house training from industry leaders
  • Collaborative Environment: Join a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals
  • Personal Growth: Be part of a pioneering field and shape the future of medical cannabis care in the UK

Training and development:

  • Attendance at a recognised Medical Cannabis Course for Specialist Physicians, sponsored by Montu
  • Specialist training delivered by experts
  • Ongoing support on clinical protocols, prescribing practices and Montu's systems

Working arrangements:

  • Fully remote with flexible working hours and days
  • Consultants based in Ireland who hold valid UK GMC Specialist Registration are eligible to prescribe remotely from Ireland for UK patients
  • Standard sessions are 4 hours of patient consultations, and you choose your preferred days and hours
    • To support onboarding, we ask for a minimum commitment of 2 sessions per week (8 hours) initially, so you become confident with our platform
    • Appointments are 15 minutes for new and existing patients. Our multidisciplinary model means nurses and pharmacists handle pre consultation and follow up prescribing tasks, so Consultants focus on prescribing and patient care
