Forsgren, an Apex Company, is seeking a Construction Engineer to support and lead transportation construction projects as part of our Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) team. This position is remote in Idaho with travel and will play a key role in delivering high-quality infrastructure projects in partnership with state and local agencies.

Your Responsibilities as a Construction Engineer:

  • Lead and manage transportation construction projects for ITD and LHTAC.
  • Oversee Construction Inspection staff and provide day-to-day direction and mentorship.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, including contract administration and documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, local highway districts, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with ITD and LHTAC standards and specifications.
  • Review contractor work, quantities, and pay applications for accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor contractor performance and resolve field issues in collaboration with project teams.
  • Participate in field reviews, project meetings, and stakeholder coordination efforts.
  • Utilize project management and documentation platforms such as AASHTOWare, ProjectWise, and SharePoint.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or related degree.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in CE&I, transportation construction, or materials testing.
  • Experience working directly with contractors and field staff.
  • Familiarity with AASHTOWare and ProjectWise preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Valid driver’s license.
