Compliance Professional (AML/KYC & EU Benchmark Regulatory Readiness) at Douro Labs

Douro Labs, the core development team behind the Pyth Network, is seeking a compliance professional to build and manage AML/KYC processes and establish the foundation for potential EU regulatory licensing.

The role requires an operator who understands the mechanics of institutional trust, capable of handling documentation requests for flagged counterparties and briefing the General Counsel on jurisdictional risk thresholds. You will act as the primary safeguard between Douro Labs and its institutional clients, prime brokers, and financial infrastructure partners, managing both the supply side of trust (AML/KYC reviews for customers and companies) and the regulatory side (policies, audits, and controls for EU benchmark administrator licensing).

The mission is to build the trust infrastructure behind Pyth Pro, our institutional-grade data solution. As we onboard sophisticated institutional buyers and pursue EU regulatory licensing, your work will define how Douro Labs manages risk and earns the confidence of regulators and counterparties.

About the Role

This is a hybrid compliance/operations role. Initially, you will manage day-to-day AML/KYC operations for customer onboarding. Over time, as Douro Labs progresses toward EU benchmark administrator licensure, this role will evolve into a full-time Compliance Officer position with broader regulatory responsibilities.

Douro Labs operates a permissive onboarding model: customers gain access first, with compliance reviews conducted afterward. This role ensures the review process and builds the compliance infrastructure needed for scaling.

Responsibilities

AML/KYC Operations

• Manage the ongoing AML/KYC review queue via Sumsub
• Request and follow up on additional information from flagged customers and companies
• Escalate higher-risk or ambiguous cases to the General Counsel
• Apply onboarding policy consistently across individual and company customers
• Manage and maintain company-wide AML and sanctions policies

EU Benchmark Regulatory Readiness

• Collaborate with engineering to build tracking for feed usage by product type and jurisdiction (EU/UK volume)
• Monitor usage against regulatory thresholds
• Manage customer usage audits
• Prepare groundwork for potential EU benchmark administrator licensing (policies, procedures, code of conduct for data publishers)
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and structures required for EU benchmark administrator registration

Internal Compliance

• Keep internal policies current across Douro Labs' multiple entities
• Manage Douro Labs’ onboarding processes at counterparties’ request
• Support periodic reviews to maintain the compliance queue

Finance Compliance

• Serve as the point of contact for financial compliance, coordinating statutory deliverables with the Finance team and maintaining appropriate record-keeping
• Maintain internal financial controls, including approval workflows, segregation of duties, and digital asset policies
• Coordinate the annual external/financial audit for relevant entities and serve as the compliance point of contact for auditors
• Collaborate with the Head of Finance to ensure 360-degree coverage of all tax obligations across all entities
• Ensure billing and revenue recognition align with signed customer contracts and applicable standards
• Flag contract terms with financial/compliance implications and upcoming renewals
• Track concentration risk across major counterparties

About You

• Background in compliance operations, AML/KYC, or related regulatory functions
• Ability to manage a recurring operational workload independently
• Clear communication skills for handling customer documentation requests
• Interest in growing into a full Compliance Officer role as Douro Labs expands its regulatory footprint
• Crypto/DeFi or financial infrastructure familiarity is a plus, though not required
• Comfortable with startup pace and evolving scope
