Join Biffa’s Commercial Collections Division as a Commercial Senior Financial Analyst and play a key role in shaping profitable growth across our Corporate and Major New Business channels. Working closely with senior sales and operational stakeholders, you’ll use your commercial finance expertise to provide insight, challenge decisions, and lead the financial modelling of new business opportunities. This is a high-impact business partnering role for someone who enjoys turning financial analysis into clear commercial decisions and wants to make a real difference to business performance.

Your core responsibilities

  • Partner with Corporate and Major New Business Sales teams to provide commercial finance insight, challenge, and advice throughout the sales and tender process, supporting high-quality, profitable decision-making.
  • Provide insightful financial reporting and performance analysis, including month-end reporting, budgeting and forecasting, identifying key drivers, risks, and opportunities, and translating financial data into actionable insight.
  • Analyse sales and commercial performance, including win/loss trends and drivers, to identify opportunities to improve conversion, profitability, and overall business performance.
  • Lead the calculation and governance of sales incentive schemes, ensuring accurate, timely, and well-controlled bonus reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement and effective business partnering, strengthening relationships across Finance, Sales, and Operations while identifying opportunities to improve processes, automation, and use of data and systems such as Power BI, SharePoint, and Excel.

Our essential requirements

  • Commercial finance experience of at least 2 years in a commercial finance, commercial accounting, or financial analysis role, ideally within a sales, tendering, or new business environment.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to assess commercial opportunities, understand profitability, and use financial insight to support and influence business decisions.
  • Qualified accountant preferred: ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualification is desirable but not essential, alongside solid experience of month-end reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Advanced Excel and Power BI skills, with a genuine interest in using data, automation, and technology to improve commercial finance processes and ways of working.
  • Strong commercial and stakeholder skills, with the confidence to challenge assumptions, influence senior stakeholders, and communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance audiences.
  • Highly organised and proactive, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, alongside a full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to Biffa sites, including occasional overnight stays.

Biffa is a premier, enterprise-grade sustainable waste management and circular-economy powerhouse engineered to orchestrate massive-scale collection, recycling, and recovery ecosystems. Operating as the UK’s leading integrated waste-solutions hub, the company eliminates the operational friction of traditional, legacy disposal models—which frequently suffer from fragmented supply-chains, high landfill-dependency, and opaque carbon-reporting—by seamlessly deploying advanced material-processing telemetry, rigorous anaerobic-digestion and energy-recovery architectures, and cohesive cross-sector sustainability frameworks. Moving beyond rigid legacy "haul-away" paradigms, Biffa empowers thousands of local authorities, SMEs, and blue-chip enterprises to dynamically synchronize their waste-reduction, resource-recovery, and net-zero-compliance pipelines with elite, scalable, and audit-ready execution. Under the hood, their sophisticated proprietary operational infrastructure—supporting 95% of UK postcodes across 200+ sites—natively manages complex multi-stream waste ingestion, instantaneous sorting-facility routing, and automated renewable-energy generation workflows, providing the necessary operational foundation to drive the UK’s transition to a circular economy. What sets Biffa apart is its uncompromising dedication to frictionless resource-orchestration; by bridging the gap between highly technical, performance-intensive environmental-compliance demands and accessible, high-velocity digital-service experiences, the firm empowers modern organizations to radically accelerate their sustainability-velocity, eliminate systemic environmental-bottlenecks, and build an unassailable foundation for continuous commercial and institutional dominance in the modern, AI-transformed industrial landscape.
