Wisdom blends industry expertise with advanced technology to optimize dental practices. They focus on matching administrative teams with expert billers and custom-built technology to streamline dental billing, maximize dentists’ time in-office, and enhance their bottom line.
Wisdom, backed by a $21M Series A funding round led by Permanent Capital Ventures, is seeking exceptional candidates to help build a category-defining company. The role is fully remote across the US.
Core Responsibilities
This is an RCM expert role requiring 5+ years of dental revenue cycle management experience. The role is not entry-level or trainable from scratch. Candidates must have hands-on experience in dental billing and revenue cycle management.
Prepare and submit daily dental claims accurately, including attachments, narratives, and documentation to ensure first-time payment.
Post insurance payments and adjustments, reconcile ERAs and EOBs against the practice management system, and resolve every discrepancy.
Manage insurance aging strategically, triage by payer, age, and dollar, protect timely filing windows, and address root causes to prevent recurring denials.
Handle denials and appeals end-to-end, from reason codes to plan language, written appeals, and escalations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for offices and their payers, and conduct weekly huddles to keep clients informed about their financial standing.
Set and report performance metrics, flagging trends before they impact clients.
Collaborate with the product and technology team to develop tools that reduce repetitive tasks.
Comprehensive Knowledge Requirements
While specializing in insurance billing, candidates must be conversant in the entire revenue cycle:
Front-end: Patient demographics, insurance setup, eligibility, benefit verification, in-network status, treatment estimates, and financial conversations.
Coding and Documentation: CDT coding, supporting documentation, narratives, radiographs, perio charting, predeterminations, and preauthorizations.
Claims: Clean claim validation, clearinghouse rejections, payer denials, attachments, daily submission, and timely filing rules.
Adjudication and Posting: EOB and ERA interpretation, EFT, coordination of benefits, secondary claims, virtual credit card fees, contractual adjustments, and write-offs.
Denials, Appeals, and AR: Reason code patterns, appeal strategies, payer escalation paths, state prompt pay rules, and effective aging management.
Patient Side: Statements, patient responsibility, payment plans, credit balances, refunds, unapplied credits, and collections timing.
Contracts and Credentialing: Fee schedules, PPO contracts, third-party administrators, tax IDs, NPIs, credentialing, timely filing regulations, reporting, KPIs, HIPAA, and data security.
Systems: Dental practice management platforms, clearinghouses, payer portals, and associated reporting.
Standards for Excellence
Wisdom expects the following standards:
Deep understanding of the dental revenue cycle, including hands-on experience in an office, ability to read radiographs, and knowledge of the nuances in dental billing.
Proactive problem-solving; resolve issues rather than route them.
Direct communication; pick up the phone when issues need resolution.
Autonomy and accountability; handle responsibilities independently, escalate early when necessary, and provide clear recommendations.

Exceptional customer service; aim for the highest standards of client satisfaction.
Effective meeting management; prepare clients, communicate with influence, and follow up with detailed correspondence.

Teamwork; direct and private when addressing friction, prioritize process over personality, and share knowledge generously.
Tech-savviness; leverage AI tools daily, verify outputs against source truths, and use technology to enhance expertise.
Requirements
At least 5 years of dental revenue cycle management experience, including claim submission, payment posting, and insurance AR management.
Proven ability to perform RCM tasks remotely without daily oversight.
Deep knowledge of dental insurance plans, CDT coding, and payer behaviors.
Proficiency in at least 2 dental practice management platforms (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Denticon, Curve).
Availability for a full 8-hour workday, Monday through Friday, during standard business hours.
Exclusive commitment to Wisdom; no second billing book, outside clients, or competing roles.
Private, quiet, professional workspace with reliable internet for handling confidential patient information and client calls.
Exceptional communication, follow-through, and commitment to patient confidentiality and data security.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in multi-office, group practice, or DSO environments.
Specialty billing depth in orthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, or Medicaid.
