CLI Engineer

About the Role: Supabase is the Postgres development platform built by developers for developers. We are looking for a Senior CLI Engineer to join our CLI Team to build a world-class local development experience. This is a hands-on role involving roughly 80% backend/API work and 20% CLI work, primarily using TypeScript and NestJS.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and operate backend APIs and services in TypeScript using NestJS patterns.
• Design and develop cross-platform CLI tooling (Windows, Linux, macOS).
• Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end tests across backend and CLI.
• Create documentation and help content for API consumers and CLI users.
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to define end-to-end behavior.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of software development experience with a strong track record in backend systems and developer-facing tooling.
• Strong TypeScript and professional experience shipping production API and server-side code (NestJS experience strongly preferred).
• Hands-on experience building, maintaining, or owning command-line tools.
• Familiarity with package distribution (npm, Homebrew, APT) and solid Git workflow/CI-CD experience.
• Bonus: Contributions to open-source CLI tools, experience with Docker/Kubernetes, and Postgres familiarity.
