Who is Nest Health?

As the first value-based care provider built for families, Nest is on a mission to make comprehensive medical, behavioral, and social care radically accessible to America’s highest risk families. Founded in 2022 by Former Secretary of Health of Louisiana and practicing OB-GYN, Dr. Rebekah Gee, and Rebecca Kavoussi, Nest is the first-of-its-kind family-based, in-home, and virtual care model; this includes primary adult and pediatric care, mental health and nutrition support, vaccinations and labs, same-and-next-day acute visits, chronic condition and transitions of care management, social services and navigation, and more.

Nest’s innovative model has resulted in partnerships, unlocking care for thousands of families across our markets. Nest’s early success has led to national traction across states and payers, laying the groundwork for future expansion to families across the United States.

What does it mean to be a part of a startup?

Working at a healthcare startup can be a unique experience with a fast-paced, ever-changing environment that can involve varied workloads, quick changes, and high expectations. Taking a position at a Healthcare startup allows for the opportunity to be high impact in disrupting the US healthcare system. You will have the chance to be creative, solution-oriented, and have your voice heard! You will need to be flexible, accountable, and self-sufficient, and you might take on multiple roles.

  • Role Breadth: Your role may be less defined than in other settings, with the need to wear multiple hats and juggle various responsibilities.
  • Learning opportunities: You will have the opportunity, at times, to function outside of your standard position and learn about new roles and areas.
  • Fast Paced: Startups often must move faster than traditional large companies. This means you may be asked to cope with or advise on quick changes regarding systems or processes.
  • Autonomy: You will need to be highly autonomous, as there is less structure and learning and development than at large organizations. This requires you to be able to learn asynchronously, as well as raise your hand when help is needed or gaps are identified.
  • Collaboration: With so many opportunities to build processes and improve how we deliver care to our patients, we rely heavily on one-another to communicate changes effectively to ensure seamless support across functions. This often requires this individual to give and receive feedback frequently and communicate challenges or opportunities effectively.

What is the purpose of this role?

The Chief of Staff acts as a strategic thought partner and force-multiplier for the CEO and COO, and the organizing force behind the executive and senior leadership teams. Primary responsibilities include investor relations across both venture and philanthropic/grant capital, building and executing Nest's fundraising strategy, board management, running the operating cadence of the executive and senior leadership teams, and high-level strategic and administrative support. Preferred would be someone with experience or interest in fundraising and capital formation—venture, foundation, and grant—who can help represent Nest externally and serve as a strategist on Nest's capital pathway. This role reports directly to the CEO and works in close partnership with the COO.

What you'll do:

Executive Leadership Support

  • Orchestrate strategic time management for the CEO and, on occasion, the broader executive team.
  • Understand CEO and COO priorities and act as an air traffic controller through effective schedule management and plan agendas, ensuring materials are available for internal and external meetings involving the CEO.
  • Plan and execute strategic conferences, high-level meetings, and company-wide events.
  • Provide strategic context and recommendations for executive decision-making.
  • Function as a strategic connector between different organizational initiatives.
  • Lead and structure Executive and Leadership team meetings to ensure clear agendas, productive discussion, and alignment on key points, with timely follow-up that includes clear action items and owners to ensure next steps are clearly defined and documented.
  • Own the operating cadence of the executive and senior leadership teams—meeting calendar agendas, decision logs, and accountability for follow-through so both groups run with clear priorities, owners, and deadlines.

Stakeholder Management

  • Own investor relations strategy and execution, drafting investor updates, building investor and board materials, tracking reporting commitments, and serving as a day-to-day point of contact for Nest's venture investors in partnership with Nest's CEO, COO, and CFO.
  • Own relationships and communications with philanthropic and grant funders, including foundation program officers, family offices, and impact investors, ensuring consistent narrative, reporting, and stewardship.
  • Support board and investor meetings, developing agendas, creating presentations, taking minutes, and ensuring follow-through.
  • Facilitate productive engagement between executive leadership and key external stakeholders, especially investors, foundations, health plans, and government partners.

Strategic Development and Planning

  • Lead and drive the development, alignment, and ongoing tracking of OKRs, contributing to strategic planning initiatives and ensuring long-term goals and objectives are clearly defined and achieved.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support executive decision-making.
  • Serve as a central driver of enterprise-wide initiatives, coordinating across all functional areas and bringing together the appropriate Nest capabilities to ensure success.

Operations and Organizational Effectiveness

  • Manage special projects that span functional domains, from requirements gathering to early project management.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to the executive team.
  • Assess and support high-functioning organizational culture.
  • Develop strategic planning processes that align with organizational objectives.
  • Partner with the People Team to ensure that strategic initiatives remain aligned with organizational mission and values.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cross-functional collaboration and efficiency.

Fundraising Strategy and Execution

  • Partner with the CEO, COO, and CFO to build and drive Nest's fundraising strategy across venture capitals, foundations, and philanthropic/government grant funding.
  • Build and manage the funder pipeline end-to-end; prospect research, targeting, outreach sequencing, diligence support, data room management, and close tracking.
  • Lead grant strategy and execution, including identifying opportunities, managing proposal development and submission deadlines, and ensuring reporting and compliance obligations are met.
  • Develop the raise narrative and supporting materials, including pitch decks, financial and impact metrics, and diligence responses.
  • Maintain relationships with state and national government officials where they advance Nest's funding objectives.
  • Track and brief the CEO, COO, and executive team on trends in venture capital, health-focused philanthropy, and grant funding—as well as the government/regulatory sphere—that may create funding opportunities for Nest or impact its operations.
  • Attend conferences, investor meetings, and funder events in support of the CEO and COO and support relationship building.

What do you bring to the Nest?

Education and Experience

  • A Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, public policy, or related field is preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in a senior leadership role within a healthcare organization, venture-backed startup, investment firm, foundation or philanthropic organization, and/or consulting practice.
  • Startup experience preferred (prior to Series B).
  • Direct experience supporting or leading fundraising—venture rounds, foundation grants, or philanthropic campaigns—including pipeline development, diligence, and close.
  • Experience working directly with senior executives, board members, and investors.
  • Experience preparing executive-level materials (e.g., board decks, investor updates, pitch materials, grant proposals, strategic memos).
  • A track record of successful project management and operational excellence.
  • Experience with organizational planning processes or strategic road mapping is a plus.

Skills and Competencies

  • Expert knowledge of the healthcare landscape.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing demands and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
