The Opportunity

As a BlinkRx Pharmacist, you will serve as the clinical backbone of their closed-door facility. Your role involves verifying prescriptions with precision, providing proactive patient counseling via phone, and collaborating with prescribers to ensure seamless medication delivery without compromising safety. This position is ideal for pharmacists who excel in structured, high-throughput environments and are passionate about improving patient outcomes at scale.

Responsibilities

Prescription Verification and Dispensing

Review and clinically verify new and refill prescriptions for:

• Therapeutic appropriateness
• Drug-drug interactions
• Contraindications
• Dosing accuracy

Validate prescription data entry by pharmacy technicians, ensuring transcription accuracy from provider orders and transfer records.

• Perform pharmacist verification of filled prescriptions, confirming accuracy of drug, dose, quantity, NDC, and labeling prior to shipment.
• Conduct daily prospective drug utilization review (DUR) to identify and resolve clinical flags before fulfillment.
• Manage specialty medication handling requirements, including cold-chain verification.

Patient Care

All patient interactions occur via phone or digital platforms. Pharmacists are the primary clinical contact for patients, delivering high standards of care.

• Provide proactive outbound patient counseling calls for new prescriptions, covering drug education, side effects, dosing instructions, storage requirements, and adherence strategies.
• Handle inbound clinical patient calls related to counseling and clinical inquiries, directing non-clinical inquiries to the patient support team.
• Document all patient interactions thoroughly in the pharmacy management system.
• Support Spanish-speaking patients with bilingual counseling.

Prescriber Collaboration and Clinical Outreach

• Contact prescriber offices to clarify incomplete, ambiguous, or clinically inappropriate prescriptions.
• Partner with prescribers on therapeutic substitutions, DAW overrides, and formulary alternatives to reduce dispensing delays.

Pharmacy Technician Supervision and Workflow Management

• Supervise pharmacy technicians across data entry, prescription processing, packaging, and fulfillment workflows.
• Conduct real-time quality checks on technician work, providing immediate corrective feedback.
• Identify and escalate technician performance trends to pharmacy leadership, participating in coaching and training.

Compliance, Safety, and Quality

• Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA, state pharmacy practice acts, federal DEA regulations, and BlinkRx corporate policies.
• Oversee proper handling, documentation, and destruction of PHI-containing records.
• Participate in quality assurance activities, including internal audits, prescription error tracking, and near-miss reporting.
• Report adverse drug events and medication errors through pharmacovigilance channels.
• Maintain fulfillment area compliance standards, including proper storage of temperature-sensitive medications.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, patient services, clinical, compliance, and technology teams to drive improvements.
• Coordinate with shipping and fulfillment teams to resolve packaging errors and delivery failures.
• Provide clinical input on technology enhancements and workflow tools.
• Participate in team huddles, quality reviews, and department meetings.
