Why This Role Exists

As our business and cleared workforce grow, so does the complexity of supporting a strong, responsive, and scalable industrial security program. We’re adding an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to help us meet that growth; to ensure our people are supported, our day-to-day security operations run smoothly, and the details that keep our program running are handled accurately and reliably.

Working closely with the FSO, you’ll help turn security requirements into clear, reliable, and efficient processes. You’ll keep important workflows moving, make it easier for employees to navigate security requirements, and look for opportunities to improve how we work as we scale.

Ultimately, this role exists to help us build a security program that does more than maintain compliance: one that enables the business, serves our people, and earns trust through operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Keep the day-to-day administrative operations of our industrial security program organized, accurate, and moving forward, while supporting the FSO in maintaining the company’s National Industrial Security Program (NISP).

  • Coordinate personnel security (PERSEC) processes, including clearance processing, onboarding and offboarding of cleared personnel, briefings and debriefings, visit requests, and personnel security records.

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized security records, files, trackers, procedures, and required documentation.

  • Administer security activities and maintain accurate information across government systems such as DISS, NISS, NBIS, JPC, and ACCS, as applicable.

  • Serve as a responsive and trusted resource for employees navigating clearance, access, and security-related questions.

  • Support preparation for DCSA security reviews and assessments, ensuring documentation is organized, current, and audit-ready and tracking corrective actions through completion.

  • Support the company’s Insider Threat Program and coordinate with relevant stakeholders on required reporting and security matters.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify or automate repetitive work and create systems that make our security operations more efficient and scalable.

  • Perform FSO responsibilities when delegated or when serving as backup to the FSO.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with a track record of managing complex administrative work accurately and reliably.

  • Strong ownership and follow-through; able to keep track of commitments, anticipate what needs attention, and consistently close the loop.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and detail-sensitive workflows without sacrificing accuracy.

  • A demonstrated ability to learn new systems, processes, and subject matter quickly and apply that knowledge effectively.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex information clear and approachable for different audiences.

  • A service-oriented mindset and genuine interest in helping others navigate unfamiliar or complex processes.

  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an administrative, operations, program coordination, or similarly detail-intensive role in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience building or improving administrative systems, workflows, documentation, or processes.

  • Experience quickly learning and becoming proficient in new software or systems.

  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced or startup environment.

  • Active U.S. Government security clearance.

  • Previous experience supporting an FSO, AFSO, CPSO, or industrial security program within a cleared contractor.

  • Completion of relevant CDSE training or FSO Program Management certification.

  • Experience working in technology, defense, aerospace, or government contracting.

Indicators of Success

  • Employees feel supported. You provide timely, clear, and practical guidance that makes security processes easier to understand and navigate.

  • Nothing falls through the cracks. You have strong organizational systems for managing deadlines, follow-ups, records, and competing priorities.

  • The details are handled. Clearance, access, visit, and other day-to-day security processes continue to run smoothly, accurately, and reliably.

  • We’re always audit-ready. Security records and documentation are accurate, organized, current, and easy to retrieve.

  • You become a trusted resource. You learn the security program deeply and share that knowledge in a way that is practical, approachable, and useful to others.

  • The program scales with us. You help build repeatable processes, strong organizational systems, and institutional knowledge that support the company as our cleared workforce and security needs grow.
