GiveDirectly is seeking a Director/Senior Director, Revenue Operations to lead fundraising revenue operations, systems, and processes for a mission-driven organization aiming to transfer $10B by 2035 and eliminate extreme poverty.
Role Overview
GiveDirectly is consolidating fundraising efforts under unified leadership to optimize coordination, standardize revenue operations, and secure long-term funding. The Director/Senior Director, Revenue Operations will:
- Own the data, systems, and processes that enable Fundraising, Philanthropy, Individual Giving, and Special Projects to scale efficiently.
- Ensure fundraising strategies align across Emergency Cash, US work, and global poverty eradication efforts.
- Build a BizOps-first pipeline infrastructure, KPI architecture, and operating rhythms to make fundraising growth predictable and measurable.
- Act as a chief-of-staff to the Vice President of Partnerships, focusing on strategic priorities, high-stakes communications, and organizational change management.
- Potentially manage a team of 3-5 members covering fundraising tech/data (e.g., Salesforce), donor experience, and knowledge management.
Key Responsibilities
Own Fundraising’s Revenue Operations: Data, Systems, and Process
- Build and own the strategic data and systems architecture for Fundraising, including pipeline tracking, forecasting, and reporting infrastructure (e.g., Salesforce).
- Define and standardize Fundraising KPIs aligned with Board reporting and long-term strategy.
- Partner with Fundraising Data and Tech to prioritize and execute projects supporting both functions.
- Design and institutionalize operating rhythms like pipeline reviews, QBRs, and reporting cadences.
- Develop revenue systems and processes with Finance, Fundraising, and Donor Experience teams for scalable growth and donor journey protection.
- Own revenue reconciliation, pledge/receivable tracking, restricted-fund coding, and audit support.
- Lead workforce and capacity planning for Fundraising, including role scoping and hiring prioritization.
Build and Lead a Team as the Function Matures
- Manage a team of 3-5 members covering fundraising tech/data, donor experience, and knowledge management.
- Set clear ownership and operating cadences to reduce duplicated effort across Fundraising verticals.
Act as the Go-To Liaison Between Fundraising and Other Functions
- Maintain a comprehensive view of Fundraising needs and act as the single point of contact for Grants Management, Finance, and Compliance.
- Represent Fundraising’s operational needs to People, Legal, and other functions during system design and launches.
Partner with the VP on Strategy and Organizational Effectiveness
- Collaborate with the Vice President to refine strategy, manage organizational change, and lead internal communications.
- Streamline decision-making and provide strategic counsel to maximize the VP’s focus on high-impact work.
- Prepare briefing materials and executive-level communications for senior leadership and Board audiences.
Lead on Cross-Fundraising Initiatives and Priorities
- Address broader organizational priorities like donor stewardship, cross-functional system launches, and workforce planning.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building systems from ambiguity, and excels at integrating disparate workstreams into cohesive strategies. This role is ideal for someone with a background in business operations, revenue operations, or chief-of-staff roles, prioritizing system-building over executive support.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in revenue operations, business operations, or a chief-of-staff role, ideally within fundraising, sales, or partnerships.
- Proven experience building or owning CRM/pipeline systems (e.g., Salesforce), KPI frameworks, and reporting infrastructure.
- Strong analytical skills with experience structuring ambiguity, setting priorities, and using data to drive decisions. An advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is a plus.
- Track record managing cross-functional relationships and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing people or workstreams, with the ability to scope roles and structure as a function grows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for high-stakes internal and Board-facing materials.
- Deep alignment with GiveDirectly’s values, especially recipient choice, transparency, and evidence.
Bonus
- Experience working with institutional donors or fundraising teams in Africa.
- Experience standing up a BizOps or RevOps function from scratch, including building a team across tech, data, donor experience, and knowledge management.

GiveDirectly
View Company ProfileGiveDirectly is a highly disruptive, data-driven non-profit organization fundamentally designed to rethink global philanthropy by delivering unconditional cash transfers to people living in extreme poverty. Founded in 2009 by development economists from Harvard and MIT (including Paul Niehaus and Michael Faye), and headquartered in New York City, the organization operates on the radical premise that people in poverty are the best experts on their own lives. Under the hood, GiveDirectly bypasses traditional NGO middlemen by leveraging mobile money technology and end-to-end digital payment rails to send cash directly into the hands of recipients across Africa (such as Kenya, Rwanda, and DRC) and the United States. Their primary target audience spans millions of vulnerable individuals needing emergency relief or basic income, as well as high-impact donors who desperately need transparent, highly efficient, and rigorously studied methods of charitable giving. What sets GiveDirectly apart in the historically opaque aid sector is its unparalleled commitment to evidence-based impact and massive scalability; having delivered over $1 billion to more than 2 million people while consistently maintaining a top-tier Charity Navigator rating by proving that direct cash empowers communities far better than conditional, top-down aid.
