Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-minded Applied Scientist to join our core centralized commercial data unit in a full-time remote capacity across the United States. In this high-leverage and high-visibility technical seat, you will step up to claim individual strategic operational accountability for turning massive, varied commercial datasets into actionable mandates for senior leadership. Shifting completely away from routine data reporting, you will act as a principal quantitative architect—feeling equally at home building clean BigQuery models as you do designing complex causal inference tests to evaluate promotional effectiveness. This position requires a data veteran with 5 years of industry modeling history who writes correct, maintainable SQL fluidly, executes statistical evaluations smoothly, and communicates findings clearly to commercial, finance, and executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Business Translation: Partner peer-to-peer with commercial, finance, and executive stakeholders to proactively transform vague, complex business questions into explicitly scoped, actionable analytical problems natively utilizing Data Scientist discovery protocols.
• Causal Inference and Experimental Design: Design, run, and scale rigorous experimental and quasi-experimental analyses (including Diff-in-Diff and propensity methods) to evaluate sales promotions, measure causal impact, and model category economics like price elasticity and regulatory impacts.
• Commercial Dataset Architecture: Architect, test, and maintain exceptionally large, complex commercial datasets natively using SQL and dbt layers over Google BigQuery, ensuring absolute data hygiene and codebase version control.
• Predictive Demand Forecasting: Build, deploy, and monitor robust market-share trajectory algorithms and predictive demand models engineered directly to drive massive seven-figure corporate investments.
• Field Operations Optimization: Engineer targeted performance metrics and allocation models that directly guide field operations, explicitly determining where and how field sales managers must allocate their time to maximize store-level value.
• AI Agent and LLM Deployment: Deploy large language models (LLMs) and custom AI agents natively utilizing Python Scripting and modern orchestration tools to classify unstructured commercial telemetry (e.g., raw receipts, untagged transactions), building internal tools to democratize enterprise data access.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5 years of verified professional history running advanced data science, applied statistical modeling, commercial analytics engineering, quantitative financial evaluation, or causal inference research in a commercial industry environment.
• Deep, authoritative technical command of statistical foundations, experimental design matrices, and causal inference, displaying the explicit instinct to differentiate a real statistical result from an artifact of data selection.
• Expert-tier capability writing production-grade data transformations, maintaining data warehouses, and ensuring analytical codebase hygiene natively utilizing SQL (specifically BigQuery parameters).
• Practical operational familiarity and working fluency writing advanced analytical code natively using Python Scripting (including pandas and its surrounding data manipulation ecosystem).
• Demonstrated ability to connect abstract mathematical data to commercial retail realities, coupled with the business fluency required to effectively communicate critical findings directly to key stakeholders.
• Compulsory fluency operating modern AI tools to mathematically multiply your own analytical output and construct scaling tools for secondary stakeholders.
• Possession of a formal university Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical field.
• Location Context: Position open exclusively to qualified scientists based permanently and resident within the **United States** to operate under a 100% remote home-office layout.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

• Prior commercial analytics history operating explicitly within retail, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), or working heavily with syndicated market data providers (such as Circana, NielsenIQ, IRI, Skupos, or Numerator).
• Possession of a formal Master’s degree in a highly quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or closely related).
• Demonstrated capability viewing analytics through an engineering lens, heavily prioritizing version control (Git), testing loops, explicit documentation, and clean codebase hygiene.
