The Role
The Accounts Officer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day finance operations of the business, including customer billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliations, credit control, and general finance administration. The role ensures the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions while maintaining compliance with company policies and financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
- Prepare and issue customer invoices, credit notes, and account adjustments.
- Allocate payments, maintain customer accounts, and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
Accounts Payable
- Process supplier and subcontractor invoices, ensuring accuracy and appropriate approvals.
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate invoice discrepancies.
- Process employee expense claims and client-rechargeable costs.
Credit Control & Collections
- Follow up on outstanding accounts via phone and email.
- Maintain collection records and payment commitments.
- Investigate disputed invoices and support account resolution.
Reconciliations & Finance Administration
- Complete customer and supplier reconciliations.
- Support month-end activities, reporting, audits, and financial record management.
- Respond to finance-related enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
About You
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bookkeeping, or Finance Administration.
- A strong understanding of invoicing, reconciliations, and credit control processes.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience in facilities services, maintenance, commercial cleaning, or another contract-based environment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Australian accounting practices, GST requirements, and month-end processes.
- Experience supporting multiple contracts, branches, or cost centers.
