About the Role
Sadie is building technology for hospitality. We're seeking an Account Executive to win new restaurant customers across major Australian cities and manage every deal from the first lead to the signed agreement. This is a field role where you'll identify potential clients through outbound outreach, networking, and on-site visits, then engage with restaurant owners directly to demonstrate how Sadie can improve their operations.
You'll be responsible for generating your own leads, scoping restaurant needs, negotiating terms, and ensuring smooth onboarding and customer success. Your work will directly impact revenue, as you'll own the forecast and targets for your territory. AI will play a key role in your workflow, helping with research, proposal drafting, and follow-ups.
You'll also represent Sadie at local industry events, trade shows, and restaurant meetups, turning these interactions into meetings and ultimately signed agreements.
The Role
- Win new restaurants, from initial contact to signed agreement:
- Conduct in-person visits to restaurants to understand their current phone handling processes, identify missed opportunities, and demonstrate how Sadie can address these issues.
- Scope restaurant needs, draft proposals, negotiate terms, and secure signed agreements.
- Qualify leads effectively to avoid wasting time on unviable deals.
- Build your own pipeline across your assigned territory:
- Generate leads through outbound outreach, networking, and strategic on-site visits. Plan your territory coverage, including neighborhood selection and optimal visit times.
- Hit monthly and quarterly targets with an accurate forecast:
- Consistently meet sales targets by maintaining an accurate pipeline in HubSpot, ensuring stage, value, and close dates are reliable for planning.
- Represent Sadie at industry events and restaurant gatherings:
- Attend local industry events, restaurant meetups, and trade shows to network and convert conversations into meetings.
- Be the first point of contact for many restaurant operators, ensuring your interactions leave a positive impression.
- Ensure smooth onboarding and customer success:
- Provide onboarding and customer success teams with detailed records of promises made, owner expectations, and potential challenges to ensure a successful implementation.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in a closing sales role, particularly in selling software or services to businesses.
- A proven track record of meeting targets and the ability to articulate how you achieved them.
- Experience managing the entire sales cycle, from prospecting to closing.
- Comfort with in-person sales, including cold visits and delivering demos to busy restaurant owners.
- Strong discovery skills to quickly understand a restaurant operator's needs.
- Clear and concise written communication for proposals and follow-ups.
- An honest and transparent approach to forecasting—prioritizing accuracy over optimism.
- Daily use of AI for research, preparation, and drafting, with a critical eye for verifying AI-generated content.
- Self-organization and the ability to manage your own schedule across a territory without heavy oversight.
Useful Experience
- Prior experience selling to restaurants or other hospitality operators.
- Work experience in a restaurant, either front-of-house or in management.
- Sales experience in reservations, POS systems, telephony, or other restaurant technologies.
- An existing network of restaurant owners in your target territory.
- Experience selling AI products to non-technical buyers.
- Background as an early sales hire in a startup environment.
Who Will Enjoy This Role
You thrive in understanding the inner workings of businesses. When an owner mentions missing calls during peak hours, you're curious about the specifics—how many calls are missed, what those calls were for, and what happens to the guests who leave without booking.
Your schedule will align with restaurant operations, often involving early morning visits, midday demos, evening trade shows, and late-night follow-ups. Some of your best conversations may happen outside traditional business hours. The role demands resilience, as you'll frequently encounter busy, skeptical owners who may turn you away mid-service. Your ability to bounce back and persist will be key to success.
The role also involves contributing to the development of local case studies and playbooks, as these resources may not yet be fully established.
Why This Role Matters
Sadie is dedicated to solving a critical problem in hospitality: lost revenue due to unanswered calls. This role is pivotal in expanding Sadie's reach to restaurants within your assigned geography. Your decisions on which restaurants to target and how to engage them directly impact revenue, onboarding success, and the guest experience when they call to book a table.
You'll have full ownership of new restaurant business in your territory, with the authority to determine how Sadie wins these accounts.
