About Treatwell

Treatwell (operating under treatwell.com) is Europe’s largest and leading SaaS-enabled marketplace for hair, beauty, and wellness bookings. Originally founded in London in 2008 by Lopo Champalimaud and Salim Mitha under the brand name Wahanda, the company transformed the traditional phone-reliant personal care industry into a centralized, digitized ecosystem—frequently described as the OpenTable for beauty. In 2015, Tokyo-based conglomerate Recruit Holdings acquired a majority stake in the business for €171 million, consolidating it alongside their global Hot Pepper Beauty division and officially rebranding the European entities to Treatwell in 2016. The company operates a dual-engine architecture: a consumer-facing hyper-localized mobile marketplace application alongside the comprehensive Treatwell Pro ERP management software for partner salons. This dedicated business OS provides salon owners with automated marketing toolkits, shift scheduling, granular staff commission configurations, inventory tracking, and integrated fintech point-of-sale payment rails. Treatwell significantly grew its dominance in Southern Europe via a milestone corporate merger with Milan-headquartered salon software provider Uala, backed by European digital group Real Web. Led by Chief Executive Officer Claire Davenport, Treatwell handles over 100 million beauty appointments annually for a massive network of more than 55,000 partner salons across 13 European countries. Dual-headquartered in London and Amsterdam to support its highly distributed European operations, the platform relies on a powerhouse team of over 800 product developers, salon success managers, and operational specialists.
