About the Role: SandboxAQ is a high-growth company delivering AI solutions that address some of the world's greatest challenges. We are seeking a VP of Operations to serve as the operational architect for our AI Simulation business unit. In this role, you will scale operational infrastructure, develop innovative capacity planning, and act as the operational engine for our BioSim (Drug Discovery) and ChemSim (Materials Science) divisions.
What You'll Do
- Provide operational support and leadership to BioSim and ChemSim divisions, managing day-to-day business operations.
- Lead the transition from high-growth experimentation to scaled operations by optimizing talent density and capacity across PhDs, SWEs, and GTM specialists.
- Architect dynamic headcount models and track velocity across complex technical milestones.
- Spearhead the Chemical Simulation business unit during its expansion, establishing and operationalizing high-priority verticals.
- Manage rigorous trade-off analysis for high-stakes technical investments and diagnose bottlenecks with a forensic mindset.
What You Bring
- Deep experience in operational leadership, including tenure as a COO, Managing Director, or Head of Ops at venture-backed scaled startups.
- Technical fluency with deep familiarity in AI or heavy-compute environments, able to translate scientific needs into tactical execution.
- A "Builder-Operator" mindset with the ability to pivot instantly from deep-dive analysis to board-level strategic planning.
- Proven expertise in conducting root-cause analysis on operational delivery failures and human dynamics.
- Bonus: Experience setting up and scaling new business verticals, implementing AI/LLM tools, and familiarity with Life Sciences or Materials Science.
