The Honest Company is looking for a Temporary Data Analyst to support our Consumer Insights and Category Management teams in the development and maintenance of Circana Custom Models. This is a part-time temporary engagement of 20 hours per week and is expected to run for approximately 2–3 months, or until the assigned coding project is substantially complete.

In this role, you will review and code individual product and business lines into the appropriate category, subcategory, segment, and attribution structures. You’ll apply established business rules and category definitions consistently across a high volume of data, research products and brands as needed, and identify items that require additional business context or clarification.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured analytical work, has exceptional attention to detail, and can work independently while knowing when to escalate questions or decisions to the appropriate internal team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Review and code individual Circana product and business lines into the appropriate category, subcategory, segment, and attribution hierarchy.
  • Apply established business definitions, coding rules, and classification logic consistently across large volumes of data.
  • Research products, brands, and business information as needed to determine the appropriate classification.
  • Identify and flag ambiguous or unclear items for internal review rather than making unsupported assumptions.
  • Incorporate category, brand, and portfolio context provided by the Consumer Insights and Category Management teams into coding decisions.
  • Conduct quality checks to identify missing, inconsistent, duplicate, or incorrectly coded records.
  • Review completed coding to ensure consistency across brands, products, categories, and attribution structures.
  • Clearly document questions, assumptions, decisions, and items requiring additional guidance.
  • Incorporate feedback and updates to coding methodology throughout the project. Manage weekly project priorities and maintain consistent progress toward project completion.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1+ years of experience working with data, analytics, data entry, category management, consumer insights, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately with large volumes of data and repetitive line-level tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to sort, filter, organize, and manipulate large datasets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or anomalies.
  • Ability to understand and consistently apply business rules, classification logic, and established guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to document questions, assumptions, and decisions clearly.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and escalating items that require additional business judgment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Circana/IRI, NielsenIQ, Numerator, or other CPG syndicated data.
  • Experience within CPG, particularly in Category Management, Sales, Analytics, or Consumer Insights.
  • Familiarity with product hierarchies, category taxonomies, brand portfolios, or syndicated market data.
  • Experience building or maintaining custom datasets, hierarchies, taxonomies, or classification systems.
  • Experience with data quality or data governance processes.
  • Exposure to Power BI, SQL, or other analytical tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.

You’ll Love This Job If You’re:

  • Extremely detail-oriented. You naturally catch small inconsistencies and take pride in accurate, high-quality work.
  • Curious. You’re willing to research a product, brand, or category to understand where it belongs.
  • Consistent. You can apply the same logic and business rules across thousands of records.
  • Pragmatic. You know when you can make a decision independently and when additional business context is needed.
  • Collaborative. You’re receptive to feedback and can quickly incorporate changes to coding logic and project direction.
