PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review of the patient’s (and if appropriate, the reproductive partner’s) personal medical/reproductive history and family history.
- Genetic risk assessment and explanation of genetic risks identified.
- Offering of relevant and appropriate testing options.
- Discussion of benefits, risks and limitations of testing.
- Documentation of session.
- Call-out of results and appropriate follow-up.
- Answer health care provider inquiries.
- Assist in development and improvement of GC protocols, SOPs, systems, and patient education materials.
- Write or collaborate on abstracts or papers.
- Support Natera teams including lab genetic counselors, medical science liaisons, marketing, product and others.
- Obtain and maintain GC licensure in states offering licensure as assigned.
- Represent company at trade shows and medical conferences; Deliver presentations at scientific meetings and company promotional events (<10% travel).
- This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and has access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job.
- Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire.
- Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or equivalent degree.
- Board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or the American Board of Medical Genetics.
- Two or more years of clinical genetic counseling experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Exceptional communication skills (oral and written) and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently AND collaborate with team members.
- Adaptable to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with Google suite of work products.
OB/MFM patient experience preferred. Candidates who provide genetic counseling in more than one language (e.g., English and Spanish or Mandarin) will receive additional consideration. Candidates with genetic counseling licenses in more than one state will receive additional consideration. Remote position; candidates located in any US time zone are encouraged to apply.
