About Alternaleaf: Founded in 2021 as part of Montu, Alternaleaf is Australia’s largest telehealth provider of its kind, delivering safe, highly clinical, and trusted services for over 200,000 patients across the country. Our core mission is to help Australians access innovative alternative medical care with absolute ease via digital-first consultation paths with experienced nurses and general practitioners. By pairing evidence-based clinical practices with cutting-edge medical software systems, Alternaleaf removes treatment barriers and establishes exceptional care standards across the evolving healthcare landscape.
Position Overview
We are seeking highly skilled, empathetic, and detail-oriented medical practitioners to join our growing clinical care team as a Telehealth Doctor - Contractor under a flexible, fully remote independent contractor configuration within Australia (with key administrative hubs in Brisbane, QLD). In this high-leverage telehealth and consultation seat, you will act as a principal care provider—conducting remote patient consultations, assessing complex medical histories, and prescribing appropriate clinical regimens. Shifting completely away from physical hospital floor logistics, non-regulated administrative transcription entry logs, or generic helpline operations, you will manage an active digital-first clinical diagnostic, real-time prescription authorization, and electronic health record (EHR) compliance laboratory. Partnering cross-functionally alongside dedicated telehealth nurses and clinical support leads, you will ensure exceptional patient continuity while adhering strictly to statutory healthcare regulations. This position requires an AHPRA registered medical doctor who guides patient care tracks fluidly natively using Online Tutor and Research primitives, demonstrates uncompromised statistical and clinical time-management judgment under tight consultation windows, and operates digital software layers with high efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Telehealth Care Governance: Deliver high-fidelity, professional remote medical consultations across a diverse, multi-demographic Australian patient base natively utilizing Online Tutor frameworks and evidence-based frameworks.
- Clinical Assessments & S8 Triage: Complete rigorous diagnostic assessments, formulate precise personalized care plans, and safely manage statutory substance authorizations (including S4 and S8 restricted schedule listings).
- High-Velocity Consult Instrumentation: Execute pristine clinical time management, confidently conducting rapid, structured 10-minute telehealth consultations with an expected baseline throughput of 4 to 6 patients per hour.
- Digital Recordkeeping & Medico-Legal Control: Review, maintain, and publish uncompromised patient health charts and electronic clinical histories in accordance with strict Real-Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) bounds natively leveraging Research verification methods.
- Cross-Functional Support Synchronization: Collaborate close-knit alongside distributed clinical nurse teams and administrative coordination cells to streamline multi-tier treatment paths and reduce data translation delays.
- Compliance and Privacy Safeguarding: Enforce ironclad user-data privacy protocols, keeping patient identifiers and sensitive transactional health records perfectly aligned with federal healthcare secrecy acts.
- Operational Flex Scheduling: Maintain punctuality and professional responsiveness across flexible contractor blocks, with an ideal preference for coverage across evening shifts running between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM AEST.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Possess a formal MBBS degree or matching international medical equivalent, combined with an active, unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (Minimum PGY4 experience level required).
- Expert Medico-Legal Competency: Absolute, deep functional literacy navigating complex statutory healthcare rules—explicitly including S8 prescription regulations, RTPM systems, and Australian patient data privacy legislation.
- Demonstrated history operating efficiently across multi-tenant cloud medical software architectures, enterprise EHR databases, and digital telecommunication interfaces.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and clinical communication strengths in English, with an established background delivering compassionate care recommendations to remote cohorts.
- Availability Context: Candidates must possess clear, verified scheduling availability to officially activate and commence remote contractor shifts from October 2026 onwards.
- Location Context: Position operates under remote parameters open exclusively to qualified, fully licensed medical practitioners residing permanently within Australia.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior platform or clinic background managing remote patient intakes specifically for alternative medical care pipelines, complex pain management platforms, or integrated behavioral health ecosystems.
- An adaptable, high-agency persona characterized by strong harm-reduction instincts, intellectual clinical honesty, and an enthusiasm for optimizing patient care outcomes through modern software tools.
What We Offer
- Premium Australian Telehealth Contract Remuneration: A highly lucrative hourly consulting rate scale of AUD $240 - AUD $360 per hour (structured via a baseline rate of $60 per completed consult at an expected throughput of 4–6 consultations per hour), ensuring market-leading returns for your clinical expertise.
- 100% remote workspace infrastructure freedom allowing you to consult safely from the comfort of your home anywhere inside Australia, perfectly balancing clinical practice alongside existing professional commitments.
