Tech Lead

About the Role: Cayuse is empowering organizations to conduct globally connected research that advances science and society. We are looking for a Technical Lead to serve as the Primary Architect and technical guide for our core product suite in a remote-first culture. You will partner with senior leadership to own the technical roadmap, taking a 50% hands-on coding approach while providing deep mentorship to our teams.

What You'll Do

• Own the technical roadmap, model complex systems, reduce technical debt, and drive integration strategy.
• Lead by example by contributing high-quality code (50% hands-on) to our most complex SaaS products.
• Drive the adoption of modern practices like AI-assisted development (Copilot/Claude), DevSecOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Provide deep technical guidance and mentorship to unblock offshore and nearshore engineering teams.
• Act as the technical bridge between product management, quality engineering, and DevOps.

What You Bring

• 7+ years of professional experience developing large-scale, high-availability web applications.
• 2+ years serving in a hands-on technical lead or principal engineering capacity.
• Extensive full-stack development experience with the Java technology stack (Java, JSP, Spring Boot) and React Framework.
• Expert experience with AWS (cloud architecture, serverless programming) and relational/NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL.
• Excellent communication skills with a steadfast commitment to producing reliable, resilient software.
