About Gcore: The world’s digital experiences run on something invisible: the infrastructure and software that keep them fast, reliable, and secure. At Gcore (gcore.com), you’ll help design and deliver that foundation for an AI-driven world. We are a global provider of infrastructure and software solutions for AI, cloud, network, and security, powering everything from real-time communication and video streaming to enterprise AI architectures and secure web applications. Armed with 210+ edge locations, 50+ cloud regions, and thousands of enterprise GPUs, our global team of 550+ professionals collaborates with leading technology partners such as Intel, NVIDIA, Dell, and Equinix. Gcore equips infrastructure experts with an uncompromised professional canvas to orchestrate highly reliable network routes and govern global hardware deployments asynchronously.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, connection-obsessed, and systems-minded System Support Engineer to manage, scale, and optimize our internal network infrastructure and core server platforms under a permanent, full-time hybrid or remote engagement framework based in Poland, Cyprus, Serbia, or Georgia. Operating as a pivotal technical anchor within our engineering group, you will step up to claim true individual operational accountability over the absolute availability, performance, and security of internal switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless hardware setups. Shifting completely away from plain website layout adjustments, basic client desktop troubleshooting, or slow manual data logging loops, you will run an active data center hardware-software routing, infrastructure automation, and secure VPN access deployment laboratory—partnering face-to-face with core cloud engineers, software development squads, and technology infrastructure partners. This position requires an operational systems veteran who patches high-concurrency enterprise fabrics fluidly natively using DevOps workflows, evaluates network vulnerabilities cleanly via rigorous tracing tools, and drives capacity planning strategies confidently to support our rapidly scaling global AI ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Topology Governance: Direct the deployment, configuration, and proactive upkeep of internal network infrastructure, including multi-tier routers, switches, firewalls, and enterprise wireless arrays natively utilizing DevOps principles.
  • Server Fleet Administration: Install, commission, configure, and maintain critical internal bare-metal and virtualized servers, verifying optimal services availability and low latency thresholds.
  • Infrastructure Alteration Management: Coordinate and implement systemic changes, topological improvements, and capacity extensions to keep internal architectures fully aligned with corporate requirements.
  • System Maintenance Scheduling: Plan, structure, and execute regular physical and logical infrastructure maintenance events to safeguard baseline system health, verify data backups, and exceed strict uptime metrics.
  • Hardware-Software Triage: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues across internal systems, operating confidently at both physical bare-metal hardware layers and logical web application levels.
  • Secure VPN Configuration: Provision, monitor, and optimize scalable Remote Access VPN systems natively leveraging Cisco ASA or Firepower technology suites to secure asynchronous engineering access paths.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven, relevant professional career history functioning successfully in a dedicated Systems Support Engineer, Network Support Specialist, or closely related infrastructure operations capacity.
  • Comprehensive, expert-tier understanding of foundational networking architectures, routing and switching matrices, and TCP/IP data flows at a level equivalent to a CCNA certification.
  • Deep, hands-on mechanical and configuration fluency working with corporate Cisco hardware appliances and enterprise Remote Access VPN solutions (Cisco ASA or Firepower).
  • Outstanding written and spoken communication precision in English, with a demonstrated background resolving technical incidents independently under tight production timetables.
  • Location Context: Position is open exclusively to qualified infrastructure experts residing permanently in Poland, Cyprus, Serbia, or Georgia to execute under an autonomous work-from-home remote layout.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Applied system administration experience operating within enterprise Linux distributions (CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu).
  • Foundational backend programming literacy natively utilizing Python scripts or Go to automate routine server management tasks.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and configuration management automation playbooks (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Experience configuring timeseries monitoring engines and visualization dashboards (e.g., Prometheus and Grafana).
  • Exposure to containerization architectures, cluster managers, and container runtimes (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).
  • Prior experience interacting with relational database models, with a specific focus on PostgreSQL engine tuning.

What We Offer

  • Vetted, Global Scale Infrastructure Compensation Blueprint: A competitive baseline corporate salary tailored specifically to your localized geographic framework, complete with flexible remote support allowances and performance benchmarks.
  • The spectacular professional canvas to own and optimize internal networks relied upon by hundreds of distributed technology specialists across 39 countries.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering a true virtual track, scheduling trust, and a spectacular perk allowing you to work from anywhere globally for up to 45 days per year.
  • Comprehensive private medical insurance covers for you and your direct family members (dependent on your localized jurisdiction).
  • Generous paid time off rules, including extra vacation allowances, dedicated sick leave tracks, and corporate funding support for critical life milestones.
  • Access to fully paid internal language courses to help you connect, build cross-border engineering alliances, and accelerate your technical career trajectory.
