About GovWorx: GovWorx is a mission-driven public safety technology enterprise dedicated to supporting critical first-responder networks—including 911 Emergency Communications Centers, law enforcement agencies, and fire/EMS departments—through responsible, secure AI solutions. Our core platforms, such as CommsCoach, BluAssist, and MedAssist, leverage secure transactional data to enhance live dispatch training, automate quality assurance loops, and optimize staffing efficiencies across public safety sectors nationwide.
Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, highly technical System Operations Engineer to join our core Operations Team. In this role, you will take ownership of evolving our automated DevOps pipelines and production operations framework to exceed industry benchmarks for mission-critical Software as a Service (SaaS) systems. Given the high-stakes nature of emergency public safety applications, your focus will be centered on building resilient continuous monitoring tools, hardening federal cloud security parameters, and optimizing real-time threat alert responses.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Architect, test, and deploy declarative server resources from scratch using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK. Build automated pipelines to package and deliver immutable software artifacts smoothly.
- Federal Cloud Management: Configure, isolate, and secure public safety workloads operating across Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystems, with specific system hardening inside secure Amazon GovCloud regions.
- Monitoring & Alert Telemetry: Design, configure, and maintain production monitoring systems, synthetic test suites, and dynamic alert rulesets to guarantee rapid on-call responses to service degradations.
- Data Layer Architecture: Support and query relational database configurations (PostgreSQL, MySQL) alongside scale alternative data indexing clusters like OpenSearch or Amazon Redshift.
- Process Documentation & Governance: Author crisp architectural blueprints, infrastructure topology maps, disaster recovery runbooks, and detailed technical iteration reports for senior executive leadership.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner closely across Customer Support, product engineering squads, and security audit teams to safeguard backend container networks (Docker/Kubernetes).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship Required: Candidate must be a native or naturalized U.S. citizen due to sensitive federal data mandates and strict regulatory data access bounds.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related quantitative engineering field.
- Minimum of 5 years of verified professional experience operating as a core individual contributor inside a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Operations track (preferably inside a SaaS enterprise).
- Demonstrated experience writing production-grade Infrastructure as Code via Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation scripts.
- Strong working knowledge of relational database mechanics (Postgres/MySQL) and modern web application delivery architectures.
- Hands-on familiarity with application containerization tools (Docker), with container orchestration via Kubernetes seen as a strong asset.
- Excellent analytical diagnostics, root-cause analysis tracking, and the self-direction to execute tasks independently within a remote team structure.
- Clearance Mandate: Must successfully pass an extensive FBI fingerprint verification and criminal background check across multiple states.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Direct experience navigating federal CJIS compliance guidelines (Criminal Justice Information Services security policies).
- Professional background supporting mission-critical emergency dispatch, emergency telecommunications, or civic first-responder ecosystems.
- Familiarity with containerized LLM deployment pipelines, AI agent-based platform architectures, and specialized AI security vulnerability contexts.
What We Offer
- Target Compensation: $160,000 - $185,000 USD baseline annualized salary accompanied by competitive target performance bonus opportunities.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance profiles.
- Generous, flexible time off (FTO) parameters alongside adaptive remote-first operational structures.
- The unique technical challenge to engineer and protect the data lines keeping first responders and local communities safe nationwide.
- Complete, secure company-issued technology hardware and staging laboratory setups provided directly to your remote office location.
