Staff Software Engineer (Users Vertical) - BNPL Platform

About the Role: We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer for our Users Vertical, a critical role focused on optimizing the onboarding funnel and designing core user management services. This hands-on position involves setting technical direction, making architectural decisions, and ensuring systems perform under extreme, concurrent load.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Optimize the onboarding funnel by designing, scaling, and streamlining registration, identity verification (KYC, KYB), and fraud prevention flows to ensure a fast, secure, and frictionless process.
• Build and evolve core user services, leading the architecture of foundational identity, profile, status, and user preference services consumed across the entire Cashea ecosystem, ensuring high availability and low latency.
• Orchestrate resilient integrations with external vendors (biometrics engines, fraud prevention tools, KYC providers) to ensure third-party outages do not impact the registration experience.
• Define the user event architecture, modeling and asynchronously propagating the user lifecycle (e.g., registration, tier changes, profile updates) to other Cashea verticals for real-time business decisions.
• Set development standards and guidelines, establishing clean code practices, rigorous testing, advanced observability, and safe rollback strategies to raise the technical maturity of the users vertical teams.
• Mentor and drive technical influence by working closely with tech leads, product managers, and engineering directors to translate product vision into a solid architecture roadmap and guide the growth of senior engineers.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Staff or Principal Engineer designing and operating complex distributed systems at scale, ideally in identity platforms, user core services, or high-traffic onboarding funnels.
• Strong backend background with advanced proficiency in Node.js and NestJS (TypeScript), or the ability to lead in this stack from equivalent technologies like Rust and/or Go.
• Deep knowledge of architectural patterns (Hexagonal Architecture, DDD, CQRS), efficient REST/gRPC API design, relational database optimization (PostgreSQL), and smart caching strategies (Redis) to handle concurrent traffic spikes.
• Solid experience with message queues and event streaming (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Pub/Sub) to decouple registration flows and complex integrations.
• Experience integrating and abstracting third-party services (KYC, biometrics, data enrichment), including implementing fallback patterns, circuit breakers, and intelligent retries.
• Pragmatic, builder mentality with a hands-on approach, able to conceptualize long-term solutions while delivering fast value and writing high-quality reference code.
• Spanish and English proficiency required.
