Position Overview
We are seeking a highly autonomous, dual-disciplined, and code-fluent Staff Design Engineer to serve as the ultimate bridge between product design, engineering execution, and UI/UX systems under a permanent, full-time remote configuration open anywhere across Canada. In this design-first, code-heavy product role, you will shift completely away from compiling static un-interactive mockups, non-regulated data transcription logs, or routine administrative files; you will drive an active functional prototyping, front-end system refactoring, and automated interface laboratory. You don’t just map visual components; you build, validate, and ship them directly into live customer channels. This position requires a hybrid engineering authority with extensive experience operating at the precise intersection of pixel-perfect React, TypeScript layouts and production-ready codebases—partnering with core backend squads within fixed-time, variable-scope execution cells.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Product Feature Governance: Claim complete ownership of user features from initial problem discovery and interface wireframing to writing the client-facing React component code and deploying it natively utilizing Frontend development practices.
- Functional Prototyping in Code: Eliminate static canvas files by building performant, responsive code prototypes to validate UX patterns rapidly, minimizing deployment risks via real-world user feedback loops.
- Design System Architecture: Evolve and safeguard our global design system, component libraries, and visual assets across mobile and web platforms to ensure design models and client code repositories stay perfectly synchronized.
- High-Velocity Feature Delivery: Balance speed and technical craft, engineering polished, fault-tolerant user experiences on tight timelines with a deep eye for micro-interactions and layout alignment.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate directly with core backend engineers and product leads to balance technical constraints against delightful consumer-facing outcomes.
- Tribe Force Multiplication: Mentor and raise the bar for the broader design organization by helping pure designers ship in code and thoughtfully integrate advanced AI workflow accelerators into daily workflows.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 6–8+ years of proven, successful professional history operating as a Senior Product Designer, Lead Frontend Engineer, Hybrid UI/UX Developer, Staff Design Engineer, or identical cross-disciplinary tech capacity.
- Expert Frontend Code Command: Deep, production-grade technical literacy writing maintainable interface code inside modern single-page environments (specifically React, TypeScript, and Node.js).
- A robust builder’s portfolio displaying live consumer products—proving an ability to translate abstract human problems into fast, maintainable, and highly performant frontend solutions.
- Exceptional visual taste and product intuition, with a demonstrated background engineering interfaces that feel universally simple, accessible, and delightful.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and visual communication strengths in English, with a verified history explaining technical compromises and layout design decisions cleanly to cross-functional engineering leads.
- Location Context: Position operates under remote guidelines open exclusively to qualified full-stack hybrid developers residing permanently within Canada (with option for access to offices in Toronto and Montreal).
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior experience or direct platform background engineering digital asset portals, crypto wallets, FinTech architectures, mobile payment processors, or Web3 consumer platforms.
- Familiarity with cross-platform packaging architectures like React Native, specialized mobile design standards, or component testing frameworks.
- Active personal engagement or genuine passion for Bitcoin infrastructure, financial automation, or decentralized monetary systems.
What We Offer
- Top-Tier Canadian Tech Compensation Matrix: A highly competitive annual base salary structure of $190,000+ CAD, supplemented by lucrative corporate stock options, regular yearly salary performance reviews, and multi-tier equity participation.
- 100% remote workspace infrastructure autonomy anywhere within Canada, supported by a yearly $2,000 professional development learning budget.
- Flagship FinTech Ownership: Unique career milestones achieved by directing the user experience architecture for an application relied upon by over a million users to secure their Bitcoin holdings.
- Comprehensive health and wellness preservation benefits, providing premium medical and dental coverage networks backed by custom wellness spending accounts.
- Access to an outstanding vacation package containing 20 days off annually, paired with an extra $1,000 USD holiday bonus if you use all your vacation days, alongside 18 weeks of 100% salary topped-up parental leave and quarterly team off-sites.
