Definium Therapeutics is a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company focused on developing accessible psychedelic-based treatments for psychiatric and neurological disorders, including generalized anxiety, major depressive disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Their lead product candidate, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) tartrate, is in proprietary orally disintegrating tablet form. Their pipeline also includes DT402, the R-enantiomer of MDMA, targeting autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with a focus on social communication challenges.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting, the Staff Accountant will play a pivotal role in the accounting team, specializing in accounts payable and general ledger accounting. This position involves:
Responsibilities:
- Process and review vendor invoices through Coupa, ensuring proper coding, documentation, and approvals.
- Assist with vendor setup and maintenance as needed.
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and complete accounts payable (AP) records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end AP close activities, including reviewing outstanding invoices and accrued expenses.
- Prepare and process weekly vendor payments through Coupa following established procedures and internal controls.
- Assist with cash activity and bank-related accounting, including recording miscellaneous cash receipts and disbursements.
- Prepare miscellaneous and routine general ledger journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Assist with bank and cash account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities.
- Perform other accounting, compliance, and internal control-related responsibilities to support financial reporting and company growth.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Previous experience with Coupa preferred.
- Previous experience with NetSuite preferred.
- 1-3+ years of accounting experience within the life science industry preferred.
- Previous experience with accounting in a publicly traded company required.
- Familiarity with SOX and internal control requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present numeric data effectively.
- Exceptional time-management abilities and strong follow-through skills required.
- Experience thriving in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities with minimal supervision.
- A professional, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude.
- Intermediate-to-advanced MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
