Position Overview
We are seeking a highly autonomous, systems-fluent, and cloud-security proficient Sr. Sales Engineer to drive the technical acquisition strategy and enterprise pre-sales architecture across our regional accounts under a permanent, full-time remote layout based in Georgia (with a target hub in Atlanta). In this high-leverage client advisory seat, you will hold technical relationship ownership, converting abstract customer risk vectors into highly secure, microsegmented zero trust deployment models. Shifting completely away from routine non-regulated data transcription loops, entry-level web layout adjustments, or basic helpline ticketing, you will operate an active multi-tenant Proof of Value (POV) orchestration, cloud-native API integration, and hybrid infrastructure simulation laboratory. Partnering directly beside field sales professionals, product managers, and enterprise executive cells, you will deliver high-fidelity use-case presentations and whiteboard architectures. This position requires a cybersecurity systems authority with 10+ years of tech infrastructure history (with at least 5 years in an enterprise pre-sales capacity) who maps system nodes fluidly natively using Cybersecurity, DevOps, and Python Scripting primitives, commands mastery over complex cloud-native application patterns, and communicates confidently with both technical engineers and C-suite stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Relationship Governance: Build, nurture, and anchor deep technical and executive-level relationships across strategic regional accounts to drive commercial preference for Illumio’s platform natively utilizing Cybersecurity and zero trust frameworks.
- Proof of Value (POV) Instrumentation: Architect, deploy, and manage comprehensive Proof of Value (POV) instances, handling complex installations and validating microsegmentation rules in live client sandboxes.
- Solution Architecture & Whiteboarding: Effectively present abstract network security solutions via dynamic live demonstrations, interactive whiteboard sessions, remote webinars, and technical expos.
- Cloud-Native Integration Engineering: Guide enterprise clients through automated pipeline configurations, leveraging deep knowledge of major Cloud Service Providers (CSPs), cloud-native development layers, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling.
- Scripting and API Customization: Leverage Python Scripting, shell macros, and RESTful API structures to automate security assessment scripts, inject data into the AI Security Graph, and connect custom software nodes.
- Cross-Functional Stakeholder Syncing: Partner closely next to product management, customer success, risk assessment cells, and channel partners to streamline product deployment roadmaps and maximize client retention values.
- Security Thought Leadership: Author high-quality technical white papers, architectural briefs, and security industry blog posts to evangelize zero trust microsegmentation architectures.
- Multi-OS Environment Triage: Provide advanced systems engineering support across diverse enterprise boundaries, comfortably configuring and troubleshooting both Windows Server and Linux enterprise environments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 10+ years of proven, successful professional technology infrastructure history, with at least 5+ years of dedicated experience operating in an enterprise pre-sales engineering or customer-facing solutions architecture capacity.
- Expert Cloud & Security Command: Thorough structural understanding of cloud migration strategies, container orchestration topologies (Kubernetes, Docker), Infrastructure as Code automation, and risk-based security frameworks.
- Practical working literacy with backend programming concepts and scripting architectures—explicitly including Python Scripting, Go, or identical automation frameworks to interface with platform APIs.
- Outstanding technical presentation and storytelling strengths in English, with a documented history presenting complex distributed systems topologies clearly to VP and C-suite corporate executives.
- Location Context: Position operates under remote guidelines open exclusively to qualified technical sales and cloud security authorities residing permanently within Georgia, United States (with close proximity to Atlanta).
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Possess prominent industry-recognized security and cloud certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, CCIE, AWS Certified Security Specialty, Microsoft Certified Azure Security Engineer, or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist).
- Prior platform background or pre-sales engineering history selling endpoint security tools, advanced firewalls, cloud security posture management (CSPM), or microsegmentation software.
- An adaptable, self-starting performance mindset characterized by a passion for driving customer value realization beyond the sales commission check.
