The Community You Will Join

The Payments organization at Airbnb is responsible for everything related to settling financial value across our global marketplace. Within Payments, the Payins team is a full-stack engineering group owning the end-to-end guest checkout experience. This includes quote generation infrastructures, custom localized payment onboarding methods, fraud checkpoints, and high-impact features like Reserve Now Pay Later.

Key Responsibilities

• Feature Ownership: Build, scale, and maintain full-stack features powering heavy real-time money movement architectures directly into Airbnb backend networks.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, UX Design, Data Science, and Legal cohorts to map project scope and validate architectural constraints.
• Platform Reliability: Spearhead engineering quality initiatives aimed at mitigating code defects, boosting transactional tracing, and improving incident detection metrics.
• Technical Tradeoffs: Participate in high-scale distributed infrastructure planning, driving metrics-driven choices via rigorous experimental A/B testing methodologies.

Your Expertise & Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production-grade platforms.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language (ideally Java, Scala, Python, or Ruby on Rails).
• Solid baseline exposure to advanced architectural design patterns for high-scale, distributed web applications.
• Experience driving product life cycles end-to-end: from discovery framing up to deployment verification.
• Excellent communication skills with a strong eye for technical edge cases and data tracking.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, or a related quantitative technical field.

Location & Compliance

• This is a US - Remote Eligible position. Candidates must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. maintains a registered legal entity.
• Occasional regional office visits or team offsites as coordinated by leadership blocks.

Compensation & Perks

• Base Salary Range: $162,000 - $186,000 USD per year.
