About Counterpart Health: Counterpart Health, a subsidiary of Clover Health, is a pioneering clinical technology leader on an unprecedented mission to drive value-based healthcare at the speed of software. We engineer Counterpart Assistant—a clinically intuitive, AI-enabled primary care optimization tool that embeds seamlessly into physician workflows. By supporting Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) with advanced predictive telemetry, we enable earlier diagnoses, streamline chronic condition disease management, and deliver significantly improved patient outcomes at a lower cost. Clover globally distributed engineering group is deeply empathetic, collaborative, and inclusive, prioritizing diversity in backgrounds to solve the universal challenges of healthcare delivery.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly autonomous, systems-fluent, and development-oriented Software Engineer - Engineering Productivity to serve as our premier Individual Contributor (IC) and Developer Reliability champion under a permanent, full-time remote configuration open across the United States and Canada. In this high-leverage backend infrastructure and systems engineering seat, you will act as a critical technical bridge connecting Quality and Core Engineering pods. Shifting completely away from routine non-regulated data transcription loops, entry-level interface tweaks, or standard helpdesk ticketing, you will operate an active multi-tenant CI/CD gateway, automated pipeline security redlining, and production canary sandboxing laboratory. Your primary mandate is to build automated reliability safety nets, driving code-related deployment incidents to absolute zero while simultaneously accelerating engineering velocity. This position requires a backend systems veteran with 5+ years of software design history who handles distributed architectures fluidly natively using Python, Backend, and DevOps primitives, architectures robust testing frameworks with agentic AI partners, and influences cross-functional engineering roadmaps seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities
- Developer Experience & CI/CD Governance: Architect, implement, and enforce shift-left pipeline gates directly into the CI/CD environment at the Pull Request (PR) level natively utilizing DevOps continuous integration practices.
- Quality Infrastructure Optimization: Lead the technical migration away from expensive, legacy software testing systems to build a unified, automated, and AI-supported testing stack natively deploying Backend primitives.
- Synthetic Data Architecture: Engineer secure, isolated architectures for automated synthetic data injection and live production canaries, strictly separating mock elements from authentic user health telemetry.
- Platform Reliability Telemetry Control: Formulate, track, and enforce strict hard metrics baselines (encompassing DORA indicators, bug-to-deploy ratios, and SLIs/SLOs) to ensure predictable core execution paths natively using Python.
- AI-Assisted Framework Engineering: Partner beside generative AI assistants (such as Gemini, Claude, Cursor, and Codex) to accelerate testing infrastructure generation, automate boilerplate IaC, and design complex verification architectures.
- Real-World Load Instrumentation: Shift scale and load simulation testing left for every enterprise customer and health provider onboarding track, validating distributed computing assumptions against real-world parameters.
- Engineering Practice Standardization: Drive company-wide adoption of new reliability benchmarks and internal Quality Programs across the SDLC, holding the line on code standards when software releases are at risk.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage deeply with technical and product stakeholders, translating complex backend infrastructure blockers into clear, context-rich problem definitions and resilient system solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum of 5+ years of proven, successful professional software engineering history focused on backend infrastructure, devops integration, developer productivity, or distributed systems design.
- Expert Backend Systems Command: Production-grade operational literacy writing clean, maintainable code natively in at least one common backend language, with specific mastery using Python or Go.
- Demonstrated history building, profiling, and refactoring complex distributed architectures, with practical experience writing declarative Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployment definitions.
- Meticulous hands-on tracking experience managing multi-tenant microservices within prominent public cloud ecosystems (Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or AWS).
- Advanced familiarity with modern software test-automation patterns, with explicit strategies for validating, verifying, and testing code blocks co-authored by generative AI agent tools.
- Outstanding written and verbal presentation communication strengths in English, with an established track record negotiating process updates across distributed multi-disciplinary engineering cells.
- Location Context: Position operates under 100% remote parameters open exclusively to qualified core engineering productivity and systems authorities residing permanently within the United States or Canada.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior platform or consulting history building automated developer enablement systems explicitly inside the health tech, regulated clinical informatics, data compliance, or heavy enterprise SaaS industries.
- Direct operational intimacy managing automated pipeline triggers, container orchestration clusters, or performance testing software.
- An adaptable, product-oriented persona characterized by a strong bias for action, a deep focus on outcomes over raw output, and a passion for understanding the "why" behind system metrics to maximize business impact.
What We Offer
- Top-Tier North American Systems & Reliability Remuneration Matrix: A highly competitive annual target cash base salary scale of $146,200 — $190,000 USD calibrated precisely to your individual systems pedigree and closing velocity, supplemented by stable corporate equity allocations and regular performance compensation reviews.
- 100% remote-first workspace infrastructure autonomy open throughout the US and Canada, freeing your schedule from rigid office commute blocks.
- Macro Healthcare System Influence: Elite professional checkpoints achieved by single-handedly blueprinting the engineering safety nets, AI validation loops, and delivery pipelines backing a hyper-growth AI clinical assistant.
- Comprehensive physical well-being coverage, offering robust group medical protection plans including hospitalization, outpatient care, optical services, and dental benefits.
- Access to uncompromised mental well-being initiatives including No-Meeting Fridays, company holidays, home office equipment setups, paid parental leave for all new parents, and generous learning and mentorship budgets to support lifelong technical mastery.

Clover Health
View Company ProfileClover Health is the premier, technology-first healthcare payer, Medicare Advantage innovator, and clinical data intelligence provider engineered to operate as the definitive, proactive care management layer for America's aging population. The company completely eliminates the severe systemic friction of traditional insurance frameworks—where physicians are forced to navigate fragmented clinical records, uncoordinated patient therapeutic tracks, and delayed diagnostic visibility that often leads to preventable hospitalizations—by deploying an open, high-concurrency healthcare data operating software. Moving far beyond traditional, passive insurance billing or simple claims processing operations, Clover Health natively unifies comprehensive electronic health records (EHR), multi-region diagnostic tracking networks, predictive clinical AI engines, and its flagship web application, Clover Assistant, into a single high-availability point-of-care workspace. The platform empowers primary care physicians to identify chronic disease risks earlier, coordinate precise clinical interventions, and maximize medical management velocity with production-hardened precision. Under the hood, its sophisticated cloud-native core natively orchestrates complex claims data pipelines, machine learning risk-stratification models, and federated patient data exchange layers to improve outcomes while lowering overall healthcare delivery costs. What sets Clover Health apart is its uncompromising dedication to replacing administrative friction with absolute clinical momentum; by bridging the gap between performance-intensive data telemetry and physician workflows, the firm remains a category-defining cornerstone of modern value-based healthcare and technology-driven insurance systems.
