About Praxis Precision Medicines: Praxis Precision Medicines (praxismedicines.com) is a premier, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical innovator, genetic research translator, and central nervous system (CNS) health platform provider operating on an absolute mission to protect, automate, and reshape treatment pathways for patients living with complex brain disorders characterized by neuronal imbalance. By engineering validated electronic patient-reported diary (eDiary) pipelines and secure distributed data architectures, the organization unifies real-time clinical telemetry across its expanding Epilepsy portfolio to help patients reshape the human condition into a freeing existence. Driven by core corporate values of Trust, Ownership, Curiosity, and Results, the company maintains high operational standards for data security and technical excellence. Praxis equips talented technical creators with an uncompromised software canvas to build fault-tolerant web and mobile interfaces, handle complex auditability frameworks, and secure sensitive clinical data environments cleanly.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, connection-obsessed, and systems-minded Software Engineer to join our core centralized Engineering group under a permanent, full-time remote engagement framework based anywhere within the United States. Operating across modern web applications, secure mobile clinical architectures, and automated cloud systems, you will step up to claim true individual operational and architectural accountability over thecontinued evolution of our eDiary ecosystem and adjacent data platforms. Shifting completely away from routine passive script writing, manual database record copying, or slow administrative coordinating loops, you will run an active microservices development, cloud deployment engineering, and distributed systems observability laboratory—partnering face-to-face with QA testers, Clinical Operations stakeholders, and product engineering teams. This position requires a software engineering veteran with 3+ years of professional depth who maps out robust code frameworks fluidly natively using Backend methodologies, evaluates application performance boundaries cleanly natively leveraging advanced observability pipelines, and commands secure, compliance-ready product releases confidently under high-accountability parameters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Multi-Layer Code Governance: Design, develop, and maintain reliable, production-grade source code across frontend interfaces, backend APIs, and database layers, ensuring solutions meet strict operational and clinical requirements cleanly natively utilizing Backend principles.
  • Cloud System Optimization: Deploy, configure, and manage scalable microservices inside a cloud environment (AWS preferred), leading ongoing architectural reviews focused on data encryption, reliability, and security.
  • Distributed Systems Triage: Troubleshoot and resolve complex production errors across distributed, asynchronous cloud workflows, executing thorough root-cause analyses and deploying durable structural bug fixes.
  • Cross-Functional Stakeholder Interlock: Collaborate closely with QA engineers, Clinical Development researchers, and IT pods to translate user requirements into validated, audit-ready software releases.
  • Traceable Data Modeling: Architect robust database schemas and backend interfaces that preserve complete audit trails, historical version tracking, and systemic end-to-end telemetry visibility.
  • Production Metrics Observability: Elevate platform monitoring architectures by implementing structured logging nodes, real-time alerting rules, and integrated CI/CD quality verification checks.
  • AI-Assisted Efficiency Engineering: Utilize advanced AI-powered copilots, code generation platforms, and automated test harnesses to amplify developer velocity while critically validating outputs for security and maintainability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical full-stack system development experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of verified, non-internship professional career history running advanced software development, cloud computing operations, or core backend infrastructure engineering.
  • Expert-tier capability modeling object structures, configuring transactional data layers, and creating performant system APIs cleanly natively utilizing Backend workflows.
  • Practical operational familiarity debugging multiple software tiers, tracing distributed asynchronous bottlenecks, and auditing system events using modern instrumentation or metrics tools.
  • Hands-on experience deploying web or mobile software within a major cloud network architecture (AWS preferred), including working mastery over VPC configurations, firewall access controls, and container infrastructure.
  • Proven capability utilizing AI-assisted developer copilots to generate code or write unit tests, combined with the technical acumen to critically audit AI assets for security and maintainability.
  • Location Context: Position open to qualified engineering professionals located and resident permanently within the United States to execute an autonomous remote track, maintaining the flexibility to travel occasionally for corporate team sessions.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior engineering background building software within regulated, high-compliance data domains such as Digital Health, life sciences, HIPAA environments, or clinical trial operations.
  • Familiarity with identity management protocols, secure authentication flows (OAuth, SAML), and modern automated CI/CD pipeline infrastructure.
  • An outcome-oriented personal philosophy anchored in deep curiosity, high accountability, and an interest in using genetic insights to shape life-saving medical software.

What We Offer

  • Vetted, High-Impact BioTech Salary Blueprint: A highly competitive, full-time baseline annual corporate salary structure calibrated precisely against your software craft depth, fixed exactly between $105,000 and $125,000 USD per year, with eligible bonus pathways.
  • The spectacular professional canvas to own and optimize patient-facing software platforms that directly alter human treatment options.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering a 100% remote virtual environment, complete personal schedule execution trust, and zero physical geographic office commuting friction.
  • Integration into a diverse, progressive corporate ecosystem dedicated to advancing equity, inclusivity, and technical exploration.
  • Comprehensive health, medical, wellness, and technical resources built to empower distributed engineering groups safely.
