About the Role: Sortly is a simple, multi-device inventory management solution. We are seeking a Software Engineer 1 (Backend) to write clean, testable code, participate in code reviews, and build reliable backend services. Your work will be crucial in maintaining system performance, ensuring uptime, and enhancing our product with customer-centric features.

What You'll Do

• Write clean, readable, and testable code while participating in design and architecture discussions.
• Build product features via a reliable, performant distributed backend platform and services.
• Participate in the on-call rotation of engineers to keep the site up and reliable.
• Own features/services in production, ensuring system uptime via monitoring, quick fixes, and addressing root causes.
• Effectively debug issues to identify and resolve root causes from first principles.

What You Bring

• 0-2 years of experience as a backend engineer in product companies writing high-quality code.
• Strong knowledge of any coding language and the ability to pick up new languages quickly.
• Ability to think analytically and approach problems from first principles.
• A proactive mindset to own features in production and ensure high system reliability.
