Senior UX Design Leader (Resident Experience Platform)

Core Responsibilities

You will lead content and user experience, reporting to the VP of Product, managing a team of 4-6 across product domains and strategic initiatives. This role is a strategic player-coach position (80% leadership & team development, 20% hands-on strategic design direction).

Key Responsibilities

• The Experience Vision. Develop a cohesive UX strategy and North Star for the Resident Experience Platform, aligned to company and product strategy.

• Design Culture. Critique and improve work, cross-functional collaboration, and knowledge sharing. Raise the UX bar across the whole company through coaching, workshops, and design share-outs.

• Team Growth & Development. Handle hiring, growth plans, leveling, compensation conversations, and timely feedback.

• Design Portfolio. Lead named strategic projects end-to-end.

• The Design System. Manage tokens, patterns, accessibility standards, governance, and adoption metrics.

• The Research Practice. Define who to talk to, how often, and ensure evidence influences decisions, including contradictory findings.

• Content Design. Support interaction and visual craft alongside content design.

• AI UX/Content Operating Model. Develop tooling, risk tiering, guardrails, and demonstrate outcomes.

Success Metrics

Within 90 days: Understand each designer’s strengths and blind spots, establish growth plans, publish a design coverage map, and complete a design system audit.

By six months: Increase design system adoption on new UI surfaces, refine contribution models, establish a research cadence, publish risk-tiering criteria, and deliver the first strategic project.

By twelve months: Achieve measurable improvements in resident onboarding completion, move-in satisfaction, support deflection, and a fourth agreed-upon metric. Reduce time-on-task for internal workflows and shorten the path from problem framing to testable prototype.

About You

• 8+ years in digital product UX, with 3+ years managing designers directly.

• Current craft. You still design and can show recent work you made yourself.

• Evidence you grow people. Be prepared to name someone you’ve leveled up, explain what you did, and describe their current position.

• Design systems at the architecture level. Understand how tokens and patterns compose, how distributed contributions work, and how to manage drift without becoming a gatekeeper.

• Ability to evaluate UX or content work, identifying strengths, derivative elements, and level mapping.

• Measurement. Define metrics before starting work, instrument them, and adjust course if metrics move in the wrong direction.

• Executive communication. Present UX strategy, trade-offs, and outcomes to the executive team, explaining how design decisions impact business metrics and the Triple Win.

• Research leadership. Build a repeatable practice involving resident and property manager interactions, usability testing before launch, and behavioral data-driven decision-making.

• A position on AI and design. Address both product surfaces and your team’s practice.

• Hands-on with AI tooling. Experience with prototyping, content, research synthesis, and design-system compliance on real shipped work.

• Open-mindedness and willingness to compromise.

• Range across consumer and operator design. Fluency in both resident and property manager perspectives.
