What is Loancrate?

Loancrate was founded to simplify and reduce the cost of home-buying. Mortgage lenders currently rely on outdated software—slow, unstable, and inefficient—leading to an average of $11,000 in fees for new homebuyers. Loancrate builds AI-native tooling to automate mortgage workflows, aiming for fully automated origination with the potential to save over $16 billion per year. Since 2020, their remote team has enabled customers to power $85 billion in new home loans.

Loancrate values collaboration, open communication, and fun while working. They thrive on quick learning and adaptability.

The Opportunity

Loancrate is seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager who excels in complexity, moves quickly, and wants meaningful impact. This role involves owning a product area end-to-end, working closely with a world-class engineering team, and making critical decisions about what gets built. It’s not just about managing backlogs; you’ll set the direction, and people will follow it.

The mortgage lending market, valued at $2 trillion, still relies on software predating the iPhone. AI is transforming this space, and Loancrate is leading the charge. Their engineering team is fast, senior, and deeply product-focused, tackling hard problems with high stakes. The work you deliver will impact billions of dollars in home loans.

Ideal candidates are hands-on with customers and code, with enough technical depth to engage in architecture discussions. They have a passion for the domain, not just the product, and excel at creating clarity, writing clear specs, and shipping high-quality work.

What You'll Do

  • Own the entire product lifecycle—discovery, definition, delivery, and iteration—collaborating closely with Engineering and Design. This includes defining requirements and tradeoffs for turning non-deterministic LLMs into reliable mortgage automation tools.

  • Lead customer discovery with mortgage lenders, loan officers, and operations teams, translating insights into a roadmap grounded in customer evidence, business strategy, and technical feasibility.

  • Prototype and explore product ideas hands-on using AI coding tools and technical expertise to validate concepts and provide concrete starting points for Engineering.

  • Craft well-structured product specs and acceptance criteria to ensure Engineering and Design can move quickly and iterate intentionally.

  • Define success metrics for major initiatives and drive post-launch iteration until desired outcomes are achieved.

  • Advocate for the customer in technical architecture discussions, pushing back on tradeoffs that compromise user experience.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success to shape product positioning and influence deal cycles.

  • Make tough decisions about scope, ensuring focused and well-executed products with conviction.

  • Willingness to travel—expect approximately once-a-month domestic US travel to customer sites, with occasional additional trips around key milestones.

Preferred Skills and Background

It's okay not to have all of these—these are just some skills Loancrate is excited about!

⚔ Technical Background: Experience as a software engineer or the ability to read codebases, prototype with AI coding tools, and contribute to architecture conversations.

šŸ¤– Fluency with LLM Concepts: Understanding of prompting, evaluation, retrieval, and fine-tuning, and the ability to translate these into reliable, user-facing products.

šŸ¦ B2B SaaS Experience: Background in building products for regulated industries like fintech, insurtech, or healthcare. Mortgage or lending experience is a plus.

šŸ”¬ Customer Research: Strong instincts for conducting customer research, synthesizing qualitative data, and turning insights into actionable strategies.

šŸ“Š Data Fluency: Comfortable analyzing dashboards, interpreting quantitative data, and forming hypotheses from it.

🚢 Fast-Moving Startup Experience: Track record of shipping in a fast-paced startup environment, managing ambiguity, and making decisions with incomplete information.

šŸ“ Communication: Exceptional written communication skills to create clear, concise specs, documentation, and updates that are actually read.

šŸ¤ Engineering Relationships: Ability to build strong working relationships with engineers, understanding technical tradeoffs and earning trust.

šŸ“ˆ Product Metrics: Experience owning product metrics and using them to guide iteration, not just tracking vanity metrics afterward.

Perks & Benefits

  • Robust medical coverage (100% of employee + family premiums covered)
  • Vision and dental coverage
  • 401(k)
  • HSA / FSA
  • Access to lender partner’s employee loan program
  • Remote-first culture—work from anywhere
  • Flexible time off—trust in managing your own time

Loancrate is an equal opportunity employer. They celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
