Position Overview
We are seeking a highly autonomous, systems-driven Senior / Staff Backend Engineer to join our stellar engineering team under a permanent, full-time remote layout spanning the United States. Working directly on the core software architecture that powers our advanced physical AI and robotic devices, you will step up to claim absolute backend ecosystem strategy, core services design, and end-to-end code deployment accountability. Shifting completely away from basic front-end layout tweaking, non-scalable scripting, or simple manual database entry, you will run an active API optimization, ETL data pipeline engineering, and systems infrastructure laboratory—partnering closely with Product, Design, and data analytics groups. This position requires an engineering authority who models backend services fluidly natively using Backend frameworks, designs complex relational models cleanly inside PostgreSQL environments, and ships iterative production solutions confidently to serve as a technology force multiplier.
Key Responsibilities
- Scalable API Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain highly robust, scalable APIs in Golang that serve as the main nervous system for our physical AI and robotic ecosystems.
- Core Infrastructure Governance: Own core services architecture, proactively solving unique system design bottlenecks and engineering tools that empower the wider development team natively utilizing Backend tracks.
- Data Pipeline & ETL Engineering: Build, scale, and optimize automated data pipelines and ETL processes to safely transport real-time body mapping and application analytics.
- Technical Triage & Quality Enforcements: Actively troubleshoot and resolve high-priority technical anomalies across both development environments and production systems, enforcing top-tier testing and documentation standards.
- Strategic Architectural Contribution: Lead structural technical discussions, leveraging data-driven analytics and performance instrumentation to refine overall backend throughput.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Team up directly with Product and Design squads to shape features that elevate human health, recovery, and proactive physical performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A verified professional history as a Senior or Staff software engineer with an established track record building highly scalable systems and RESTful microservices.
- Advanced Programming Languages: High-level workplace proficiency in Golang or Python.
- Strong understanding of relational database modeling and schema optimization, specifically utilizing PostgreSQL.
- Proven familiarity with automated testing frameworks, CI/CD deployment pipelines, and modern cloud deployment tools.
- A strong bias toward action combined with complete end-to-end ownership of shipped production code.
- Travel Availability: Ability and willingness to travel to our New York City headquarters a few times a year for localized engineering alignment.
- Location Context: Position operates under strict remote geographic parameters open exclusively to qualified backend engineers residing within the USA.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
- Previous experience working inside complex hardware-software integration or robotics-focused software ecosystems.
- Familiarity with distributed tracing and performance tuning across highly concurrent network systems.
What We Offer
- Comprehensive Salary & Discretionary Bonus: A competitive annual base salary ranging from $180,000 to $220,000 USD, accompanied by a 10% discretionary bonus structure.
- 100% employer-covered comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance provisions.
- Secure financial matching with a corporate 401k plan offering up to a 4% company match.
- Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) allowances alongside a generous parental leave program.
- Modern home-office perks including company-covered dinner credits for extended evening sessions.
- An empowering, high-growth environment dedicated to solving challenging-but-tractable robotics and AI engineering problems.
