Senior Software Engineer - Reputation

About the Role: Airbnb is powered by our Host and Guest communities. Reputation is at the core of Airbnb's trust platform. The Reputation team is responsible for everything related to a user's reputation, from reviews and superhost to standards enforcement. We are fundamentally improving how review data is collected and stored, working towards modularizing our systems and creating an ecosystem that can span beyond the two-sided marketplace. As a key contributor, you will have the unique opportunity to be involved from the early days of redefining the Reviews space for Airbnb, moving fluidly across the stack.

What You'll Do

• Work with cross-functional partners (product managers, legal, etc.) to design and deliver high-quality products.
• Create paved paths and best practices within the reviews, standards, and insights space.
• Define technical strategy and lead the architecture, build, and launch of solutions for serving reviews flows and providing data to our users.
• Influence and align stakeholders across teams and organizations on technical direction, goals, and roadmaps.
• Build efficient backend solutions that are reliable, performant, and scalable.
• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to define product definitions and roadmaps.
• Work in areas outside of your usual comfort zone and show motivation for personal growth.

What You Bring

• 7+ years of full-time work experience in software engineering, information technology, or related domains.
• Proven track record of defining technical direction and owning architecture for large-scale, complex production systems.
• Ability to drive technical strategy and make architectural decisions that span multiple teams and systems.
• Experience mentoring and growing engineers, and influencing technical decisions across teams and organizations.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture (SOA) and Agentic Coding tools.
• Proficiency in one or more backend server languages (Ruby/Java/Kotlin), and in popular storage systems such as relational databases, NoSQL, and caching.
• Bonus: Breadth of knowledge in the reviews and metrics domain is a plus.

Benefits

• Base Pay Range: $196,000 — $227,000 USD/year.
